'25 Duke RB Transfer Star Thomas (TENNESSEE)

Yes, we are looking for a 3rd string insurance guy behind Desean & Peyton. Who did you all complaining think we were going to get for 3rd string ? Justice Haynes ?
Yup, 2025 looks to be another rb-by-committee year, the 2023 three-headed monster part deux. I don’t know if any of the prospective top 3 are quite at J. Wright or ‘23 Sampson level, but I think we’ll be alright.

What was his portal ranking?

Brock Vandagriff was ranked #37 overall in the portal ahead of both Riley Leonard and Will Howard.

Those rankings don’t mean sh*t.

Most important thing for portal guys is do they fill a need and are they are a fit for your program. At least for actual playoff teams.

Happy to have Star, makes that a deep RB room now and we likely can redshirt both freshman RBs who are very talented. I am betting kids don't mind the redshirt much anymore since they are getting paid to play ball and can still play in up to 4 games.

Welcome to Rocky Top young man!! Glad to have you in Knoxville.

I thought one of the most important things was their level of play/skill level.

Offense needs play makers.

That room besides DS this past season was very average on a good day.

This team needs playmakers regardless of what you say.

What if…..guys improve from year to year.

That room is good to go.

Not many people would say Jabari Small was a playmaker. He was the leading rusher in 2021 and Vols rushed for 2800+ yards.

That year Jaylen Wright wasn’t great. Averaged 4.8 ypc. Then in 2022 he averaged 6.0 ypc. Literally one of the groups on the team you never have to worry about besides depth.

Playmakers emerge during the season, we've seen high stars and thought to be great players be average. Let's be optimistic on what these guys can do.

lol. Whatever man. The rb room is very average without DS. And was very average behind DS this past season.

RB room produces every year. Playmaker at that position is not a necessity. We will still rush for a sh*t ton of yards next season.
Not true. Sampson and Wright were both playmakers. We need playmakers at RB, WR and TE. This offense has been too bland the last 2 yrs. Especially if we aren't getting playmakers at WR, we damn sure need them at RB.

Sampson looked average behind wright in 23. Than he emerged in 24. Mind you Bishop had a higher avg than Sampson in both seasons - let's see what some of these guys look like with more carries. Let's also consider Bishop had 30 less carries in 24 than Sampson did in his 23 season. Sampson was a ball hog, rightfully so.

It's almost like yall don't understand how QB play affects the offense. At some point yall will get it, hopefully it's soon, because I refuse to listen to you all for another off season.
