Duke/UNC Official Thread 2021/2022 (K’s Last Hurrah Edition)

I get that kids understand the system better but damn it’s frustrating to feel like they’re playing harder to run up draft boards.

He probably told them to calm down, be strong w/ the ball and that lazy ass one handed passes weren’t going to get it done against a good team like TTU.

That’s the gist of it sure. But how did he actually get it across compared to the last three weeks

I don’t know, but there is definitely a sense of urgency now that wasn’t there a few weeks ago. The defense has really stepped up and locked in. When Duke started making shots and Texas Tech wasn’t turning them over and had to get into their half court sets they were limited. Rebounding still is a concern though

People *****ing on Duke and K can eat a big D. He would be the most successful coach of all of your programs. Lol. Hope they win it all now that we are out .
Of course, he would be. I think he is the best college basketball coach ever. I don't understand why you would cheer for a coach who has already won 5 championships, though... unless you are already a fan of his team. That's like cheering for Saban.

My dad went to Duke so I grew up cheering for them

Question for Duke fans :

Wouldn't you agree that Coach K's best team was the 1998-99 squad with William Avery, Shane Battier, Elton Brand, Trajan Langdon, Chris Carrawell, Nate James, Taymon Domzalski and Corey Magette that lost to UConn in the NCAA Tournament National Championship Game?

Coach K is a great coach, but losing that game would bother me a little bit. They had the better team.

I would say that 99 was the most dominant team. They had no business losing to UConn. To this day that game still haunts me, much like the 2001 LSU game. Those are the only 2 games I refuse to ever watch again.

The 1992 team and the 2001 teams are very much in the conversation as Duke’s best team. The 92 team had Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill. 2001 with Jay Williams, Battier, Boozer and Dunleavy were pretty good too.

For perspective, Dean Smith’s best team was probably in 1984 and I think they lost in the sweet 16.

That’s a long way to go for me to say yes, it still bothers the hell out of me, but you shouldn’t bring Taymon Domzalski into the conversation. He was not good .

IMO, Duke’s 1992 team had a level of toughness that they haven’t duplicated since. I’d take that team over any of their others.

Battier was a beast though. He would have fit in well on that 92 squad.
