Duke/UNC Official Thread 2021/2022 (K’s Last Hurrah Edition)

That might be when it changed to requiring one year between the pros and hs, but the true one and done era of 3-4 players per team leaving UK and Duke was a few years later. By this standard, Duke has 2 ships, 3 FFs, and 6 Elite Eights.
So UNC still has the same amount of NC’s and 2 more FF’s without a roster full of one and done’s …and more recent success the past 5 years

So by your logic UNC’s coaches have been perpetually on the hot seat for being such disappointments. See how dumb that sounds?

The same amount lol but UNC has more final fours…but you right you guys continue to recruit a roster full of one and dones while UNC racks up more success

While I see your point about success if not for a defensive breakdown there would be no argument. There’s a laundry list of 1 and dones on both sides. Some made it work and some fell on their face. The game is changing and that’s probably why a lot of these coaches are burned out.

Roy deserved his final season
K deserved his final season

You can’t take away anything from either man. What they brought to the game and did for it speaks for itself.

Enjoy retirement gentlemen.

And Roy, it’s ok to stay home.

Well, as some of you predicted, Davis came back.

If Hubert can find another solid piece that’s a strong 5 to match up against anyone.

The rivalry should be fun next season.

If 3 is the minimum for “roster full”, it’s happened 4 times. They’ve never had four one and dones in one year

Only once in 2018, which I remembered mid-argument with someone the other day. I always forget Duval. But that was a really good team anyway that won the ACC and went to OT in the Elite Eight

I’ve seen some mock drafts with him going late in the first round. Others where he isn’t even drafted. Not sure what to think… I don’t understand his appeal though for NBA front offices. He’s a slow-footed PG that can’t shoot. I don’t know how that translates in today’s NBA. I get that he could be a menace on defense but that takes a lot of want to and effort… something he doesn’t have in spades.

I was just saying the same thing to a buddy of mine. I posted a lot earlier in this thread that i was told that he wasn’t going to class anymore. I think there’s a chance that he couldn’t have made his way back, and that now he’s regretting that decision. It’s a shame. He needs to come back . He’d probably make more $$.

Curious is Foster reconsiders reclassing now. Not sure if there is/was a window where he has to make that decision by

A lot of these kids, for both of these teams, have friends and family members giving them really terrible advice. It’s good in the short-term for the leeches around the player, but it’s incredibly destructive for the long-term future of the player.

Keels isn’t ready for the NBA, and he would have been drafted MUCH higher had he stayed another year or two at Duke. Caleb Love isn’t ready either. These guys have huge potential, and they could squander it by getting greedy and jumping to the NBA before they’re ready to play against grown men.

I thought I’d heard that he wasn’t going to reclassify once Roach committed to coming back. But that may have been assuming that Keels was coming back too.
