You got it! Sorry to hear that your son has specific medical needs that you need to travel for. One thing that this area has is lots of good medical care. I can attest to that first hand.Only if I can go fishing too! Lol
We go up to Raleigh, Chapel Hill for my oldest sons medical needs.
Speaking of beaches it’s nice to be at a beach in 2.5 hrs opposed to 4. Been many many years since I’ve been to Myrtle. To much crime for me to take my kids down so we go to Carolina/Kure
Used to roll through there all the time going to and from Bragg.

I don’t blame you for sticking to Carolina/Kure beaches. We stay in North Myrtle, but downtown Myrtle has gone downhill a lot in the last few years. They really need to get a grip on it before they lose control. People can’t be getting shot down on The Strip every other weekend. There’s way too much to be lost down there for that crap to happen. It’s people coming in from Conway and Loris causing all the issues .
Thank you. I’m still in. Right now I’m a recruiter in Mount Airy. Will actually likely be making a trip to Bragg in the very near future to take care of some uniform stuff.Awesome, I didn’t know you served or at least have family who did. Regardless I thank you for the service.
Even though we’ve been living in the area for some time now it’s still somewhat of a surprise to see helicopters and planes landing and taking off. My 6 year old loves it and says: they gonna get those bag guys dad? Lol
Best of luck to your son. Prayers for great work by the surgeons and a speedy recovery.According to the local paper down there ( I see it on FB all the time) N. Myrtle was voted the safest place to go. It’s a sad sight to see a place I went every summer in my early years go down the toilet. Myrtle used to be packed with families during the summer spending millions and now it’s corrupt officials and a lawless land at night. If they’d tighten the grip and set the standard it can be cleaned up but they’ve got a long way to go.
It’s ok, he’s a warrior and tough to the core. Got a surgery coming up in June but he’ll come out of it better than ever. Just gonna take some time to get him back to normal afterwards.

After four years at Bragg, Blackhawks don’t do anything for me. But I still get excited when I hear the sound a Chinook overhead. That’s the really big transport style helicopter

Pope used to be an AF base, now it’s just an Army Airfield. If you’re still able to go down Bragg Blvd, it’s all Bragg on the left and right. You can’t really see Pope from the main road. The helicopters are typically coming from Simmons Airfield (left side of Bragg coming from Sanford). Weird to explain, so I hope that makes sense. But C-130s, C-17s, and C-5 airplanes all take off from Pope. C-5s are absolutely massive. If you go to the west side of Bragg you can see paratroopers falling from the sky doing Airborne Ops. Your boys might really enjoy thatNormally all we see is cargo planes or Apaches. (Correct me if I’m wrong they’re helicopters loaded with weapons). The boys love it especially when we go to Fayetteville and see Bragg and Pope on either side. Maybe it’s just Bragg?

Didn’t they have a squadron of A-10’s at Pope for a short time ? I feel like they were moved there after they shutdown Myrtle Beach AFB.Pope used to be an AF base, now it’s just an Army Airfield. For Pope, I really don’t. Best bet I can think of would be to just camp out in a parking lot in Spring Lake. There’s no set schedule for when they do Airborne jumps, but if it’s not windy during the work week, there’s a good chance some one is jumping. Longstreet and Plank Rd don’t require access to the military base. That’s awesome, where we live they do live training at the Dam mostly at night so it rattles the house pretty good. On the left that has to be Simmons coming from Sanford toward Fayetteville. They always ask what Special Ops forces and Airbourne is when we pass the sign on the right side headed home. I’ll have to take them over there to see the Paratroopers I’m sure they’d be thrilled. Do you know of any places where we could watch planes take off? Obviously I understand I can’t just park outside the fence without alarming Bragg but I wanted to ask anyway.
Thank you for the education!
I think I've heard that, but that was waaaaaay before I got there. @Dudleys87 i know in Virginia Beach the Naval Air Station Oceania has actual parking areas right off the runway (and to the opposite side of the fence) to watch the jets take off.Didn’t they have a squadron of A-10’s at Pope for a short time ? So you’re saying UNC isn’t recruiting the elite players? Or are they just not going to UNC because UNC doesn’t put that many good guys in the league anymore?Just a random thought but unless Duke stops going after the top elite recruits and instead start focusing on the 25-75 ranked players who will take advantage of NIL and stick around an extra year or two, I could see them following K's recent pattern of great expectations with little success. Their fans will get fed up with that, as Kentucky fans have started to turn on Calipari.
