Dy'shawn Mobley

I hope that #17 is an underclass man. He has a lot of potential in that offense.

He is a Senior. A lot of talent but undisciplined at times. He was the one that went in motion when Mobley scored on the 1 yard TD. It's never good when points come off the board.

I thought that McPhetridge scored on that first drive of the second half. Too bad they do not have replay in high school playoffs.

That was actually a great call by the ref. I watched it in slow mo when I got home and when his knee touched, the ball was about a foot away. In the stands, I thought it was a TD.

He definitely plays with 'tude. Looks like a t-h-u-g. But nice mix of power and speed. If he can stay out of trouble, he might make it somewhere. But I have a hunch he can't stay out of trouble. He scored and only one teammate congratulated him. That is usually a warning sign. Have a feeling that his real name is Me'Shawn Mobley.

Of all the statements I've read in this thread, this might be the dumbest. There was occasional dissension on that team, but it never was caused or initiated by DM. He played his guts out for the team, and never demanded carries or took plays off. But, I realize you were on the outside looking in.

I am on the outside looking in. And I do apologize if that is incorrect. But, as part of my job, I have received training on reading body language. Not trying to brag of anything. Just a fact. I thought to myself, if this game comes down to the end, Henry County will win. They were a closer knit unit. But with said, I really thought Powell was gonna score and pull it out.

The Powell coach did a great job. But you could see the friction there. They didn't celebrate together. And DM has few real friends on that team. Am I wrong? If so, forget it. I have been wrong before and I wish him luck. He has been a nice story this year.

Just saying.. Jayson Swain stated he sees why UT didn't offer break away speed and Cross was a good and he like better. I'm pretty sure he knows what he is talking bout...

Oskie says ..Mobley to OSU with Meyer....jk...he seems to say every recruit we have is going to OSU...fact is Mobley will be at Tn...if he walks on....let the thread die....

Mobley didn't receive an offer because of his off the field issues. We may have been able to look past those if we didn't already have two similar backs (Hill & Cross) already committed.

He's good enough to play here, but we like our other options.

Really - so who told you this? There are no off the field issues - he made a mistake last year and has been a model player and teammate ever since.

A Powell friend of mine. Dooley told Mobley he needs to, "get away from Knoxville". Kinda like the Aaron Douglas situation.

Again, that's just what I've been told. I don't know the legitimacy to it.

You got to wonder what's next. Mobley only has one eye, only bench presses 25 lbs, runs a 5.9 40, was in rehab, buried a few teammates in his back yard, he hates his mother, he killed his cat, he couldn't start for Maryville HS, if he played in Florida he would have been moved to left guard.

He was arrested for seling drugs when he was 15, tifwiw.

Come on now, I am sure his family and friends posting on this board begging for a UT offer will let you know that he was only selling those drugs to raise money for football camp. Talk about doing everything you can to get where you want to be.

I believe this to be a bunch of BS. If you have proof other than you boyfriend's girlfriend's pet dog told you so then back it up. The only incident I know of is the locker room incident as noted earlier for which is atoned for according to his coach.

That's why I said tifwiw. But I honestly am not surprised. It makes perfect sense.

I've been around Powell football for 15 years. I have never heard this story before - so I'm TIFWIW which is nothing.

Let's face the facts, there is no way UT is passing on Mobley because of the off the field issues. There simply aren't any.Yes,he made a mistake, but has made ZERO this year. You are the same guys that would say take him if he was the number 1 rated RB in the nation. There is not a team in the nation that would pass on him ONLY because of his one transgression. Even if the selling drugs story was true (which it isn't), that would have been 3 years go. Teams are full of players with arrest records.

I believe it is simply a numbers game and Mobley is getting left out. He sincerely wants to play for UT, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

This thread has gone from "he's not good enough to play in the SEC per Orange Peel", to UT won't offer him becasue of the character issues,to he is not a team player, too slow, etc. I'm sure Dooley would offer if he had a spot. It will remain up for debate if Dooley should have taken a chance on him.

I do find it funny how when he has 2 offers from SEC schools, Orange Peel has gone completely quiet. :birgits_giggle:

Thanks, I really needed a laugh this Monday morning..

We got room for Blanc though. Only difference between Blanc and Watson is that we took the one in our back yard. Now compare Blanc and Mobley, what is the greater need? A safety or a RB? Cross is gone, Watson is fast but look what small and fast get you in the SEC. Demps and Rainey were hurt a lot this year. Crowell was hurt a lot. Look at LSU's backs, they bring it.Ware side stepped left took a step back right and was met in the hole by a UGa LB and about killed the guy. Hilliard just was too much also. That could have been Cross and Hill. You don't need blinding speed. Quick feet are good weapons also. Making people miss and not get good angles for solid hits goes along way. I know we need speed, but two big backs with a quick back is what I want to see.

Yeah, I asked before for a 40 time on him and never heard a number. He was out in the clear and they ran him down without problem. Mathers from Blackman is long gone in that situation.

Quite a game...these two are evenly matched. Two good teams!

His 40 time is consistently in the low-mid 4.5's. He will improve his 40 and can get it to a 4.4 if he works.

2010 40 time: 4.78-4.85
2011 40 time: 4.51-4.56

If he works as hard as he did last year in the off-season I expect that 40 time to drop in the 4.4's.

Secondly, in that run it was not an accurate picture of his speed because you could tell he was considerably gassed and ran out of steam after about 25-30 yards as he had already gotten 20 carries in that game, and he is not used to that many carries as he only averaged 12 carries a game during the season.

Dyshawn will not give you the speed of Mathers, or Kimbrow, but he gives you a combination of speed, power, and VISION, which makes him unique.

As many Henry County fan's said they have seen Mathers, Kimbrow, and several other running backs, but Dyshawn Mobley was the best running back they have faced or seen play in over 15 years. Henry County only gave up an average of 120 yards of total offense a game and Dyshawn rushed for 208 by himself. Great player and great young man.

Not just the fans of Powell believe he should have an offer from UT, but every team we have played. Henry County fans are baffled over UT not offering him. Not just said by me, but by everyone who has seen him play that he is the BEST running back in the state. He should start for the EAST in the EAST vs WEST all-star game, so tune in to see that.

Congrats to Henry County on a hard fought game, and congrats to Panthers on a great year. Panthers lost that game due to huge penalties and turnover's. I could watch those two teams play a hundred times and not get bored truly two evenly matched opponents that I believe had the best defenses in the state.
