The East TN media has turned odd reporting potential winter weather. WBIR showed two models of potential snow for Sunday. One model keeping snow in the mountains and the other showing a great snow for most of East TN.

On their 7 day forecast, Sunday has a 30% chance.

It's a pick your model type of forecast. Tons of uncertainty. GFS has been more bullish on snow the past couple runs but has waffled back and forth the past few days. Kuchera ratio below probably overestimates actual accumulation.

I would take a good dusting to 1 inch right now. Want to use one of our last two snow days.

I think we have had a total of two inches at my house this year. I just give up on hoping for winter in the valley. My least two favorite seasons are around the corner.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST /5 PM CST/ THIS
EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR EAST TENNESSEE
INCLUDING THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect until 6 PM EST /5 PM CST/ this
evening.

* TIMING...This afternoon.

* WIND...Winds from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph can be expected
with gusts in excess of 35 mph at times.

* HUMIDITY...Relative humidity values of 25 to 30 percent in many
areas.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or are expected to occur shortly. A
combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm
temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Chance of some damaging wind gusts with a very small chance for a spin-up tonrado tonight with any storms that develop as the front moves through tonight.

I wonder if Knoxville will go under a tornado watch later.
The threat of tornadoes is really marginal here in East Tennessee so there probably won't be.

I could see a Severe Thunderstorm Watch being issued though because with the intensity of the LLJ, any storms that develop will bring damaging winds down to the surface. MRX says that even showers could bring very high winds.

Looks like we are about to get bombarded with rain with potential flooding.

Yeah it looks like a pretty good signal for some heavy rain and a wet week. The axis of heaviest rain will depend on where the front stalls.

Based on the recent rainfall, conditional river forecasts show some flooding potential with this extra rain, so it'll be something to watch.

Also, it's going to be Severe Weather Awareness Week in Tennessee this Sunday though next Saturday.
