quarter of an inch.

Yup. I just checked the GFS and the EURO. Both show the storm with similar tracks, just different strengths. Its a prefect track for a major snowfall in East Tennessee. Cyclogenisus off the Texas coast, tracking through the Florida panhandle, and into the Carolina's. Ground and road surface temperatures will be cold. The system late next week.....
The storm next Firday/Sat looking like more of a mixed bag now. Accumulating snow on the front end, switching to sleet and freezing rain on the back end as the warm nose pushes in and the low tracks closer to us, then changing back to light snow as it tracks east, weakens and then an east coast low forms. Could be quite a mess Friday night and Saturday morning. Longer range, the GFS and EURO couldn't be more different with the GFS showing colder with more winter precip chances, and the EURO significantly warmer. Interesting to watch! The 18z GFS model is trending towards a fairly significant snowfall. Going to be interesting - would rather see the snow than the freezing rain, that’s for sure.
The storm next Friday/Saturday….now that one looks like it could be a doozy. Lots of things lining up for that one early.
Yeah I looked this morning and it had shifted more toward the mixed bag you speak of. I’m certainly not meteorologist, but I find myself learning more and more and finding these models so interesting. The storm next Firday/Sat looking like more of a mixed bag now. I love forecasting as an amateur. Been doing it for over 20 years now. I have a friend with a PHD in meteorology who can help me understand some of the finer details when needed.Yeah I looked this morning and it had shifted more toward the mixed bag you speak of. Beats watching the local forecast that’s usually never right. Now I can be kind of right or kind of wrong or just very wrong!
