East Tennessee Weather II

IM not snarky, just said it’s was going to be too warm All week. Still standing by winter ended after our last light snow in Jan

Nah but it would be nice to be a local meteorologist around here and be awful at your job at no fear of losing it.

Being a meteorologist is one of the hardest jobs in the world. There are a lot of variables that a meteorologist has to consider when coming up with a forecast.

I get that and all. But they have missed really badly so far this year. It's amazing with the advances in their models that they can be this wrong.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but it would help to include some info or something instead of just giving what sounds like an opinion based on anecdotal evidence, which is useless in weather.

VK, RT, Darth, etc will link to things or provide some kind of model or discussion to support what they’re saying.

I think one of the hardest jobs would have to be a school superintendent. You don't have a clue what the weather is going to do from the forecasts and then you get the whining from the parents no matter if you call school out or keep it open.

No matter how far technology advances, there will never be 100% accuracy on forecasting. I've done a lot of research in recent years on the field of meteorology, and it's incredible just how much goes into forecasting.

Black ice will definitely be a concern for tomorrow morning with temps falling to the lower 20s.

David Aldrich is normally my go to with snow. But man he's been the worst this season by far. They need to update their computers at WVLT

when the cold is chasing the precip it’s hard to forecast. Our last clipper the cold caught up and on this one not so much.

Ok, I looked at the forecast, and weather Underground and it said it was going to be too warm, above 32 and in the 40s when the moisture arrived. That better?

It doesn’t have to be 32 to snow. Also, Wunderground uses PMS to receive data for forecast which can very from hour to hour.

They also called for no snow with the last system we got and I ended up with almost 3 inches. Our area is hard to forecast. Cold air could get trapped in the Valley or hit a wall on the plateau. No model could forecast that and if it could we wouldn’t have Mets or be having this conversation.

Sunday will be a doozy of a forecast. Highs tomorrow will be a tell tell. If we can stay at or near freezing. This would be a heavy heavy snowfall or icestorm. Right now, I don’t see temps climbing much Sunday.
