East Tennessee Weather II

Ok, I looked at the forecast, and weather Underground and it said it was going to be too warm, above 32 and in the 40s when the moisture arrived. That better?

I didn't look at anything but the thermometer. When Aldrich tells me it's supposed to start at 9pm and it says 43 degrees at 9pm even a guy like me not trained in meteorology can tell you nothing is about to happen.

It’s definitely hard to predict the weather here, but I had the same thought. I think the local guys take forever to update the forecast. Like you said it was almost out of here, and still 40 degrees

EXactly, nothing I was seeing said it was going to be below 40 when the precip was here. Easy call

This system coming in tomorrow morning will be a front end system. The northern and central valleys will start out with either snow or a rain/freezing rain/snow mix. The southern valley will likely be all rain. By mid morning onward, everyone will see rain. Some parts of the northern valley could see up to an inch of snow and minor ice accretion before the changeover, but not expecting a major travel concern. If you're someone that has to travel before 8 am tomorrow, I'd recommend giving yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

45 for the high today. Forecasted to be 50. Time to see how cold it will get. Hoping for clearer skies at night draws near to let the temps drop quick before clouds become prominent over the area.

Models trending cooler. Knoxville is at 35 ten mile is at 31 🤭 something to keep a eye on

Drought update:

I don't know if anyone remembers, but back in the fall, I posted a drought map which showed parts of northeast tn in the abnormally dry category. Here's the latest drought map:

What is everyone’s prediction for the rest of winter? Are we finished or could we get another chance or two at some winter precipitation?

What many are expecting to happen

heavy rainfall at times. Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected
with heavier amounts possible across the Plateau, southeast
Tennessee, and southwest North Carolina. The excessive runoff
may produce flooding of low-lying areas, street flooding, and
stream and river flooding.

* People in the watch area should be aware of the possibility of
heavy rainfall. Avoid low lying areas...and be careful when
approaching highway dips and underpasses. If you come to a
closed or flooded road...turn around! Don`t drown!

If this isn’t the most East TN thing ever, I don’t know what is. Haha.

I see nothing pointing to a return of winter. As hopeful as I am for it, it just isn’t going to happen. Might get cool again but all I see is rain and 50s in the 10 day models

Winter will return towards the end of February. Enjoy the warm weather while you can.

I’m hopeful that we don’t see one more deep freeze. I’m hoping for mild weather in the 50s to finish February and then steadily rising into the 60’s and 70’s during March.
