East Tennessee Weather II

Spring forward tonight...ready to close the book on the #worstwinterever

Why was it the worst winter ever?

I'd argue we've had worse. I distinctly remember a fairly warm winter a few years ago. I mowed my lawn in January that year.

Possibly...but it really seemed warm and wet for the whole month of February

Way too warm here for snow its still in the mid 50s...maybe above 3000 ft might see something

I thought they were talking about next Sunday?

Late edit: NM, I just looked at next week and it will
Be 70s. Way to warm for snow here in the valley as we aren’t supposed to get below 37 tonight.

Big flakes falling here in West Haven. Fortunately, it’s well above freezing.

Wow, the flakes are giant now. If it was a few degrees colder, we'd be talking about a couple inches of snow.

Are we about to get snow tonight?

TWC seems to think so.

Depends on where you are in East Tn. Northeast TN and the mountains could see anywhere from 1-4 inches. Eastern portions of the central valley and foothills could see a trace to 1/2 an inch of snow.

Got our best snow of the year when it basically wasn't even being talked about lol.

Heard thunder for the first time in a long time. When I looked at the radar at 3am there was already a storm over Oak Ridge. That was with current temps around 53. Could be an interesting Saturday.

The strength of these storms depend on how quick this cap we have currently erodes later on. The best chances for severe weather will be in Southeast KY and Southwest Virginia. I'm keeping my eye on Monday, as some portions of the Southern Valley and Middle TN may see a significant severe weather event.

I forgot to add this to my post last night, but an isolated tornado can't be ruled out due to the somewhat good low level wind shear. This threat is primarily for Southwest Virginia and Northeast TN.
