ice is worse than snow - had a bad ice storm here the last week of Dec -- a day w/o power for me, several days for some others --- hopefully it doesnt happen to you guys

I did almost make a week with out power right out side of Kingsport years ago,the big storm that we were outside saying I don't ever remember seeing it lighting in a snow storm,it was transformers blowing up

Wow that flow change has made it look very interesting looking at live radar now! I noticed it on the radar when the rain turned back to snow in Cookeville but had no idea thats what happened.

yeah temps are jumping all over 36 in Crossville..46 in Chattanooga but still 30 in Nashville and 26 in Knoxville

Instead of it sliding up at a North East angle it's sliding down at a South East angle out of kentucky and looks to be bringing the cold with it.

Every radar loop I look at still shows an east track with a very slight northeast track occasionally.

However, what's really happening is moisture pumping in from the southwest. Will the valley temps stay cold enough, we shall see.

Monday 0z models are running now.

it is right at 20 or 22 degrees here in Thorn Hill,I would get closer to the thermometer, but I'm not putting on boots to go check it :)

So what you're saying is....

The RGEM Precip model also shows a 9-hour period of snow then sleet beginning just after midnight tonight. This is looking like tomorrow morning will be a mess in the central and northeast valley. Use the arrow buttons at the top of the model to step through time in 3-hour increments.

Knoxville is part of the Central Valley, right?

I'm trying to figure out what extreme southeast Morgan County could be looking at. We are technically the end of the plateau but have seen nothing but some freezing rain/sleet mainly.
