East Tennessee Weather

I'm wondering how the ground being saturated along with the combination of upcoming winds gusts will play out. Two full days of rain hitting before wind gusts is never good.

This is a good point. All this rain is loosening the soil, which can make trees get knocked down easier. The fact that we could see gusts of 40-50 mph is not good.

Also as an update, everyone in East Tennessee is now in a marginal risk for Strong to Severe Thunderstorms. Obviously, if you get hit by a Severe storm, the wind gusts could be higher.

Noticed the interstates were brined but didnt see any other roads done, so the secondary or side roads could be slick or black ice in places tomorrow morning.

Sorry, RT. I've been a little busy myself. As far as the Euro last night, it's a little colder, but we need the low to go more South. It goes into Tennessee, which will give us all rain.

It's all good VK! :)
I saw that the EURO slid south with its latest run

ok thanks for the info -- is it because of the mountains ?

That's part of it. A big factor is the direction in which the storms come from. When they come from Alabama, UGA, and the Southern Plateau (Bledsoe and Rhea counties), we have a decent chance to see tornadoes if the system is strong enough. If it comes from Kentucky or the Northern Plateau (Fentress and Cumberland counties), it typically weakens either before or as it hits the valley.

~Severe Weather Alert~

Everyone in East Tennessee (except Bristol, who's in the marginal risk) is in the Slight risk area for Strong to Severe Thunderstorms on Tuesday. Primary risks include Damaging Winds in excess of 60 mph and localized flooding. A couple isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out.

Where is this from VK, I haven't seen anything official pop up yet?
