Aren't there 2 weather threads?

I felt like this one usually is popular Spring-Fall but we have one specifically for winter to track snow and whatnot.

If I'm not mistaken this thread was renamed not so long ago. It used to have a different title. This one has been the thread where we've discussed mostly winter weather, occasionally storms.

The other thread is severe weather, mostly tornado outbreaks, storms, hurricanes. I guess technically that's the spring, summer, fall thread.

So...what about this system coming on 1/6? Any hope for significant snow? I know that's a long way out.

It's too far out to give specifics on what it will do. However, the pattern trends on the model runs are looking promising, so that is a time period to watch.

Long range forecasts showing an arctic front accompanied by a potential winter storm for much of the south, including the state of Tennessee not long after New Years.

Still subject to change but worth keeping an eye on

caught the last part of the WVLT forecast and they said that we might get 1/2 inch of snow in my area Friday night..would be nice to see...it was 80s in Florida last week and I'm ready for some winter

Right now, I'm just watching the patterns of the system in each run. It's way too early for specifics.

Patterns still looking the same?

They told us at work today they were watching some cold air coming in for the first couple weeks of January...

We're getting a suppressed look right now for the system next Friday (meaning that the system is staying south of us for the most part). That is actually a good thing at this time. The reason is because since the beginning of December, systems have moved more north than what the models have shown. The temps shown by the latest model runs have been pretty cold as well.
