Eating and Drinking in Knoxville (merged)

ya....it was ok to pretty good. not much to really comment on, which may be a not good thing, but it was fine.

anybody been to cocoa moon?

Didn't much care for cocoa moon. Alright but nothing real noteworthy.

My friends who ran Monterey in farragut and then Estalita's are finally able to open their own restaurant in the old Estalita's spot and will open end of may. The new joint will be called "Meksiko 120" 120 meaning the # of different tequilas they will serve.
Looking forward to it

When IS it open?

Thursday, Friday and Saturday for sure. i don't know about Sunday.

we always went every Thursday for lunch.

when they were in the little building by the laundromat they were open pretty late too.

Ate at RouXBarbeque last night and really enjoyed it. I had the "meat sampler" and everything was good. The blue cheese/jalapeno slaw was nice. They also have Lazy Magnolia on tap....yummy. There is a huge outdoor seating area, but we ate inside due to the oppressive heat and humidity.

Went to eat at Chez Liberty a couple weeks ago. Really, the decor is not my thing but the food was really great.

I did go at lunch. A really great burger (one of the better in knoxville). And an appetizer of Serrano ham, figs, goat cheese, and arugula tossed in olive oil. Classic and delicious

Anyone been to Echo? I believe it is a new project from the chef at Seasons. Menu looks good.

Echo? the one thats been open for awhile? The one that used to be Mango, then used to be a decent french place, and is now Echo?

I didn't like it.

Chef at Echo gets a 6.
Bruce Bogartz at Rhouxbarb gets a 9.
Chef at Bistro by the Tracks get a 8.
Chef at Chez Liberty gets a 9.
Chef at Northshore Brassiere gets a 7.

Thats my estimation of where Echo ranks amongst the homegrown sorta high end restaurants Knoxville has to offer.

I guess there is probably more restaurants than that, but I just can't think. Orangery just reopened with a revised menu, so I dunno. Perhaps its actually gotten better.

EDIT

It sounds pretty good, guess I'll have to go back and try it.

I really like Seasons, so it's tough to see so low of a score for Echo. I'll still probably give it a whirl and will report back. I agree with the rest of your assessments. Also, we had a pretty nice meal at S&W Grand a couple of weeks ago.
