Then why flee? I thought he was a hero? Don't heroes stand their ground?

There is no way the government could have had him killed after handing over that information.

This shows how stubborn you are on this topic. What would he accomplish by staying. Being a martyr is not required to be a hero. Life in prison is not required to be a hero

Once again you're confusing heroes and martyrs. Heroes do something noble for others. In this case Snowden gave up his career, his family, and his freedom so that others could be aware.

And yes they could have. They would have arrested him. Put him on trial. And then executed him.

Now hypothetically speaking, if Russia killed agents because of Snowden, why would the US government hide it? The only reasons I can think of is they don't want to confirm to Americans and Russians that we have operatives (dying) in Russia...but Russia already knows in this hypothetical. So they'd only be hiding it from us.

Precisely, but of course the Russians wouldn't be publicizing it to their people either for obvious reasons.

There are at least 10 "unnamed" stars on that wall.

He didn't simply say they're crooked. He gave us information on illegal activities of the government.

And sadly, the government manipulated the masses into seeing him as the traitor. When the real traitors when the people who authorized these actions.

You're really reaching. You acted like they never release names and they released 10 of the last 16. Now your argument is they only release 87% of the names. Cool

He should have never leaked sensitive information. If he thought it was positively necessary he could have went through proper channels to do so. He did not have to go to Hong Kong to leak the info.

You do not know he would die if he came back to America. That is your opinion.


You are okay with him giving Russia sensitive government info ? That is beyond ridiculous, IMO.

If it were me, I would have tried to get it into the hands of a few reporters from different outlets in secrecy. Not been an attention whore and absolutely not have given anything to a foreign power.

Amazing how long deapthroat kept his anonymity.

Do you really think the information would have been made public if he went through proper channels?

You think the government would just say, "you're right, it is unconstitutional to spy on US citizens".
