Edwin Herbert (opened things up)

I'm excited about him. Reminds me of another couple of juco players that turned out very well. Different positions buy chris mims and chuck smith turned out ok for us.

Actually Chris Mims came to UT from California JUCO with another lineman named Benard Daffney. Both were good players at UT and played several years in the NFL. Tragically, both are now dead.

Back on the rivals commit list as a soft verbal.

I noticed that. I wonder why he came back in as a soft verbal and not solid? Looks to me like with Monte supposedly coming to UT and the fact we really need DT's he would be all over it. I never did really understand why he de-commited in the first place.

He was just visiting Arkansas Friday. Thus the "soft" designation.

So, Kiffin is at UT for the weekend.

They've got to refuel the plane, check the tires, etc sooner or later. No machine could possibly stay on his pace.

as of last night...the gators still have him as a visitor...oh well..i love it

hope they are looking for him tomorrow while he is in knoxvegas

"He’ll split this weekend up between visits to Tennessee and Florida."
Per Scout.

There, settles it.

In the Tampa-2 DEF, the 3-tech is a significant cog on the line of scrimmage. At 6'3, 295, Herbert would certainly fit the bill for the future. Demonte Bolden and Walter Fisher are gone, and Dan Williams is a senior. At 6'2, 290, Donald Langley is a similar DT to Herbert, but behind Williams and Langley, the next heaviest guy is 270.

On the bright side, hopefully we'll be able to rush the passer better this season with a smaller Tampa-2 DL.

I think under Monte, you'll see some guys get serious looks at D tackle that we normally would have moved to Offensive Line. Aubrey Phillips springs to mind, but I'm sure there will be others.

I heard Holbert didn't make it in this weekend, but he still planned on going to Florida today. Any updates?
