If Heupel wins or even plays for a NC in his 2nd year, there would be no issue justifying a $10M-$11M/year salary and tacking on a giant buyout.

Yep . This would have been a great question to ask after the spring game . If I told you that CJH was going to beat Florida, LSU, Alabama and Georgia , play for the SEC championship , be ranked number 1 in the country , and play for a national title this year …what do you think we should pay him and the other coach’s ?

For everyone thinking we are going to lose CJH, who do you think is going to buy out his contract?

For everyone wanting to pay Saban like money before we lose CJH, who is going to poney up $8 million to buy out his contract?

History is a great example to pay attention to. How many coaches have had an excellent first year or two then receive a major contract only to have it bought out. We can see it is about to happen with Jumbo and the Charlie Wise deal at Notre Dame, among others.

8M isn't a lot for college or NFL teams.
