Election Night (or days, or weeks, or whatever) 2022

Oblivious voters. Just like 20 percent of Tennesseeans voting to keep slavery an option as a punishment. Surely they either didn't read or understand it, right?
Probably so. It's not like there was much discussion about the amendments. The grammatical difference between the original and the proposed may not have been as obvious as we think it is and could also be a matter of "I've stood in line for 45 minutes, don't have time to read this, so I'm voting against it." I can understand that tendency because I have, in the past, tended to vote against incumbents when unfamiliar with the race or candidates. For example, I spent less than five seconds becoming familiar with our local constable race.

Hard labor for the incarcerated is hardly slavery. It's completely reasonable that some rights are forfeited when serving time for criminal offenses. Coupled with some life changing training for the outside. Otherwise you perpetuate the same gang behavior that got them there. THey just get better at it.

The candidates in PA and GA were pushed by Trump and GOP voters went with it. The party needs to quit following Trump. His time has passed

The pressure on Trump come next week is going to be enormous. He must simultaneously dismiss the good (but not as great as predicted) results and in particular as to those candidates he supported, whilst blaming the losses on others when he needs their support come 2024. And he has to do it in a way that does not make it look like he is shifting blame and also rallies the base.

Tough, tough needle to thread.

Which part gave you $14k?
If you have a small business you have to pay all of your own SSI and medicare, Medicaid etc up front, the tax codes for 1090s and small business were much more favorable under Trump.. they’ve gone back, but fortunately we are back on W-4s

I voted Obama twice. Regret the second time. Ever since 2012, Democrats have quickly gone away from my preferred policies so it's been a minute.

I'll also admit my policies have become more in line with conservatives as I get older. At 34, certain things matter more.

34?! Geez, your bones don't even creak yet. lol.

It is interesting though, that at only 34, your views have already shifted to a more centrist/conservative point.

He is talented at doing that, but this cycle will be different. There will be no middle ground. He will either resurrect himself, or bury himself.

But which have you $14k? It's not like you got to stop paying ssi. It seems that was also temporary no matter who was in office a you would no longer qualify

You are not understanding, instead of writing out a check for 44k to the IRS at the end of the year we wrote a check for 30k at the end of the year..

My experience was similar. Things like the higher personal deduction, passthrough tax deduction and a lower rate are the reasons for this

You don't believe in border security, energy independence, American manufacturing, lowering rx drug prices, and updating our military?

You're not really talking about policies, you're talking about objectives or priorities. Cool that he lowered some drug prices. I didn't say he didn't do anything right. I'm just saying as a whole, his policies were nowhere near excellent.

Did Trump do anything to secure the border in any lasting way? What did he actually do for American manufacturing? I went blue in the face telling you guys that protectionism wouldn't work. The economy is too hard to manipulate the outcome you want. Manufacturing output increased with pretty normal trends. Turns out increasing input costs is counterproductive.

I would be tempted to agree. Seems like everyone is ganging up on Trump and the GOP leadership has been signalling for a long time they are over it. DeSanctimonious is the benefactor of the whole thing because he can mimic a lot of Trump's favorite themes but without the same baggage.

Not sure I'm following all the negativity I read on here lastnight. Seems GOP has/will win the house and will likely get 50 (Wisconsin, Nevada) if not 51 (runoff election in GA)

Yep, I was pissed 😂.. in before, ‘rich folks problems’ lol.. we also couldn’t depreciate his work truck, and were very limited on what we could continue to write off.. they make it incredibly hard for small businesses

Everyone can act like Trump has no chance, but I would take being a net exporter of oil and cheaper gas prices right now. If anyone else can run and do the same, I'm all for it. Where is he or she? DeSantis? Maybe, but who knows.

It’s not the Rs that are under pressure in 2024. As long as it’s not Trump a pet Rock will smoke Joe , Harris , Petey boy ,or Newsome the Dems have zero national talent to put up . DeSantis wouldn’t even have to get out of bed until he gave his acceptance speech .

DeSantis is who Trump coulda/shoulda been. Far more professional. DeSantis could garner a large voting base if he plays his next two years right.
