The manufacturer of EVs does 10 times the damage of what it saves the environment so everyone can just stop that BS now

You want to drive an EV cause you like them, I’m good with that. Just don’t lie and say you’re saving the environment. You’re not.

Please show me the data that supports your claim of 10x the damage.

I never claimed to be saving the environment. I have stated multiple times that it was a consumer choice.

Nope, I don’t, and google didn’t help.
Well that just tells me how bad a job we’re doing making a difference.

Traditionally the ❌ is a trafficking awareness campaign.
That Red x tells anyone in trouble that I’ll help you no questions asked. We spend a lot of time with womens shelters trying to get that word out.

It saddens me how few people are aware of the magnitude of this problem

Are you of the mistaken impression I’m accusing you of anything? I even clarified that it you, or @kiddiedoc were driving them for fun then I’m good with that. I also have no problem with people doing it because they think it saves money. Whatever reason other than the environment, the environment arguments don’t fly.

I’m going to ask my wife about that one- she’s a director at a local nonprofit supporting human trafficking victims. I’m curious if she recognizes it. Thanks for the info.

Yes, I definitely thought that was pointed at me. In general, my love of the outdoors and fishing/hunting have turned me into a bit of a hippie, but I know EVs are far from perfect.

End of the road for EVs? Electric Cars Encounter Nearly 80% More Problems Than Gas Alternatives, Report Shows - but experts suggest they're just teething issues

EV owners report far more problems with their cars and trucks than owners of gas-powered vehicles, according to a new survey.

Vehicles in the burgeoning electric vehicle segment, from model year 2021 through 2023, encountered 79 percent more problems than those with combustion engines, according to a Consumer Reports survey of more than 330,000 car owners.

The research said EV owners most frequently reported troubles with battery and charging systems as well as flaws in body panels and the fit of interior parts.

This week, about 3,900 auto dealers signed a letter to President Biden asking him to rethink what the dealers called unrealistic fuel economy and emissions requirements. President Biden is pictured in a Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV in 2022

'This story is really one of growing pains,' said Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing at Consumer Reports. 'It's a story of just working out the bugs and the kinks of new technology.'

But Consumer Reports noted that reliability concerns will cause additional apprehension among prospective buyers, alongside concerns about higher costs, too few charging stations and long charging times.

The growth of EV sales has slowed sharply since last year, and concern has heightened that American consumers are simply not prepared to make the switch from gas-powered cars.

Just Why ARE EVs so Expensive to Repair? Electric car owners forced to Pay 50% MORE after a Crash due to Limited Number of Mechanics and Risk Of Batteries Exploding

  • Extra Safety and Storage Precautions plus specialist training needed for EVs
Electric vehicle owners are facing repair bills that are thousands of dollars higher than those for gas cars.

A lack of specially-trained mechanics, extra safety measures for potentially explosive batteries and a greater need for replacement parts are to blame.

Repairing an EV after a crash cost $6,587 on average last year - 56 percent higher than the $4,215 for all vehicles, according to research from auto data company CCC Intelligent Solutions.

Electric cars are promoted as needing less maintenance than their gas-powered counterparts - with tasks such as regular oil changes no longer necessary.

But - when it comes to collision repair - they need more work than regular vehicles, according to CCC Intelligent Solutions.

The report found that last year, on average, an electric car repair required roughly double the replacement parts compared to a standard gas car.

'People are used to hearing that EVs have fewer parts than a combustion vehicle, but that is not the case in collision repair,' Marc Fredman, chief strategy officer at CCC Intelligent Solutions, told The Wall Street Journal.

The way that many EV parts are welded in the vehicles, he said, means the components cannot be repaired and have to be replaced instead.

Cars containing lithium-ion batteries also need special storage as they can be a fire risk when damaged, which adds both time and cost to the repair process, Scott Benavidez, chairman of the trade group Automotive Service Association told the outlet.

Electric Car Fire Started After Owner Tried to Pre-Warm Battery… With Toaster

1701744874402.png

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) – A toaster placed under an electric vehicle by its owner to warm up its battery likely caused a fire that destroyed the car and damaged a nearby house in southern Denmark, police said Monday.

“The cause of the fire is most likely to be found in the toaster that the owner of the car had placed under the front of his car to keep the battery warm,” police said in a daily report.

The fire happened on Saturday in Stenlille, about 60 kilometers (nearly 40 miles) southwest of Copenhagen. No one was injured.

Rented a Polestar 2.0 this past weekend. The car was a blast, and the $35 recharge fee I had to pay was worth it.

  • Just two states have broken ground on the stations, with industry insiders blaming the law's contracting and performance requirements
Industry insiders blamed delays on the red tape of the law's contracting and performance requirements, Politico reported Tuesday.

The bulk of the funds, $5 billion, are to go toward building fast chargers along major interstates - what's being called the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure or NEVI program.

To satisfy the federal program's requirements, chargers must be built at least every 50 miles over major highway routes and be operational 97 percent of the time.

They also must take credit card payments and certain components must be made domestically.

Biden officials said they are expecting a surge of charging stations to break ground in early 2024.

So far just two EV charging stations have started construction - one in Pennsylvania and one in Ohio.

The NEVI funds are handed down to states, which can then contract the construction of the charging stations out to private companies.

Every state, so far, has submitted a plan to receive the NEVI funds.

If a governor were to reject the funds, municipalities are allowed to apply for the dollars.

Politico found that 27 states and Washington, D.C. have yet to start soliciting bids, with officials in Missouri saying that process may not begin until 2025.

The delays could be costly for the president politically.

Former President Donald Trump has already indicated that he would roll back any electric vehicle infrastructure plans should he retake the White House after next year's November election.
