Electric Vehicles

Tesla Model S Plaid...a $90,000 stock car with 4 doors..blows the doors off a 1300+hp $1,000,000+ hypercar and runs dead heat with a supercharged Hayabusa bike that has 350hp and only weighs about 500-550lbs.

It is absolutely insane how fast Teslas are. Just a run of the mill Model S like i believe @kiddiedoc has will outrun Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Posche 911 turbos etc. Those cars run in the $200k- $500k and up range...and a 4 door Tesla sedan built to carry the wife and kids to the grocery store will absolutely gap supercars stoplight to stoplight. Since electric motors make maximum torque from the nanosecond you stomp on it, without having to spool up RPMs like a gas engine, they are insanely fast.

I think the push for electrics right now is stupid worldwide because we dont have the means to even charge them. I also think the government has no business telling us what kind of cars we have to drive regardless, and they need to be put in their place. That doesnt mean there arent some amazing electric cars out there. If i was rich i would definitely have a Tesla as a toy to play with. There are videos all over youtube like this. Has to be fun.

Agree 100%. I have a M3P, effectively $48k after the tax refund.

Say what?

That was a common phrase when insulting a buddys mom or sister growing up...

" bet your mom could suck a golfball thru a garden hose."

" well your mom sucked the chrome off my trailer hitch. Tell her she is gonna have to replace that man. Money doesnt grow on trees." Etc etc

Crooks are posing yet ANOTHER threat to EV adoption in America: 'This worries me the most'

A new threat is posing further obstacles to electric vehicle ownership for Americans.

Thieves are targeting charging stations and stealing the cables. This can mean the loss of $1,000-plus cables - but there is an even bigger knock-on effect.

Crooks cutting wires can disable entire stations - forcing owners to search desperately for another working charger that might be miles away.

Now ya'll are hitting folks?
Morons need to take their gaze up from their phone and do what we taught kindergarten age children. Look both ways before you cross the street.

I for one am pleased to read this finding. Natural selection doing its job.

Twice this year I've nearly hit someone in a parking lot. Both were aimlessly walking in traffic flow looking at phones.

The gangster says he wants to speak at length at the convention about electric boats, sharks, windmills, toilet flushing and other vital topics.

was reading up some more on the logistical side of things for utility companies trying to handle EVs. The article was talking about how not only can they not handle the power requirements, they can't handle the actual cost of the upgrades either.

They were saying that it costs the utility company about 100k per Tesla Super Charger to set up, and that is just from the charger back. and thats if there is existing infrastructure to attach to. new builds cost them easily 500k, but they mentioned that cost gets spread out if more chargers are installed. and they pointed out that most of the chargers don't get used enough to ever pay off that initial set up fee.

Imagine if you can, all of the East Coasters coming home and plugging their car in at 5:00PM, the grid simply can't handle it.

This country has taken more Megwatts off of the grid than we have put back on.. We've shut down over 200+ coal fired power plants, some needed it while others didn't.

Our electrical grid is outdated, all you hear DC talk about is "Infrastructure".... they patch potholes, we need REAL infrastructure.

One good hot summer and a small hiccup in the system and it will be horrible.

Power plants use to be staffed by 100+ ppl, you can go in them now the staff is cut, they're doing less with less not more with less....... at some point it will break.

FWIW, I didn't see any change in my electricity costs last year compared to the year prior, other than the increase in rates that everyone had.
