Electric Vehicles

To be fair, there are some modern gasoline cars that will do the same thing.
Do they not have a mechanical key as part of the fob? Not that would have prevented the death because I would be surprised if many people know about their mechanical keys.

I looked online quite a bit, and honestly do not see that that they have an exterior key lock. Even the inside ones are kinda vague if you dont know where to look.
Too much automation in everything these days..appliances etc. KISS.

Coming Soon to an EV Charging Station Near You: Extra Fees for Taking Too Long to Charge Your Car

In Europe, as in the United States, it seems governments just can't stay out of the business of picking winners and losers and using taxation and fees to enforce those choices. The latest such example? Now, in various places in Europe, you may be subject to increased fees if you take too long to charge your government-subsidized electric car.

What if one's car isn't fully charged after 45 minutes? There will always be differences in charging rates; everything from outside temperatures to the age of the battery to the level of charge in the battery before charging will make a difference in how long it will take to top the battery off.

Don’t worry, the private sector already charges you extra if you hang out too long at the charger.

Tesla idle fees penalize you for occupying a charger when you are already charged.

On a related note, you know what I hate? When I pull up to a gas station and all the pumps are taken, but nobody is actually getting gas. They are inside getting snacks and scratchers…

I've only used superchargers 3 times in over a year. You do get a phone notification when charging is complete and it's not a far walk from Buc'ees or Whole Foods, so this is a dumb take.

I drive a diesel.... some stations only have one or two diesel/gas bays with a whole bunch of gas only bays and most of those gas only bays are usually empty with gassers with MIA drivers sitting in the diesel/gas bays

Stunning blow to Electric car industry as leading manufacturer announces it's Diverting $1.3 Billion earmarked for EVs To Gas-Powered Trucks instead

Ford has decided to repurpose an Ontario production plant it had originally intended to use solely for electric vehicles.

Instead, the automaker's Oakville assembly complex will pivot to produce large, gas-guzzling Super Duty trucks, which, depending on the model, weigh between 13,800 and 22,000 pounds.

The move will also see the company invest some $2.3 billion into the Super Duty truck production, while welcoming 1,800 workers to plant a year earlier than expected.

Vehicles people actually want!

Some electric cars are cool, and if you drive short distances then it might be a viable option for you if you want it, but forcing everyone to get one is probably not going to work, especially since we don’t have the energy grid for everyone to have one and charge it (this is my hubby’s arena of work and he says this). So then they are going to say we will all need to ride a bus or public transportation.. which is probably the ultimate goal they have in mind, but they aren’t telling you

First Fatal Tesla Cybertruck crash Kills Texas man after EV veered off-road for 'unknown reason'- as cops probe potential safety faults

A raging battery fire has incinerated a Tesla Cybertruck owner alive just off the east Texas coast, in what's believed to be the first fatal crash for the new electric vehicle.

State officials reported that the trendy, but troubled EV burst into flames after crashing into a concrete drainage channel or culvert, leaving the owner's body and truck's license plates and VIN unrecognizable among the char.

The episode is just one of many harrowing accounts of safety defects with the Cybertruck, which Tesla CEO Elon Musk once touted as 'apocalypse proof,' despite the EV requiring no less than four recalls since it debuted in late November of 2023.

Stalwart fans of the Tesla EV at the Cybertruck Owners Club online forum pushed back on the coverage, with one saying 'They gonna cover the hundreds of car fires per day in the US or just Tesla?'

But scientists and automotive safety experts have drawn attention to the unique thermal might of lithium-ion batteries when engulfed in the flames of a runaway chemical reaction.

A typical runaway battery fire in an EV burns at a temperature of roughly 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,760 Celsius) — half the temperature on the surface of the sun.

Most metals, including platinum, titanium and the Cybertruck's own stainless steel, melt at temperatures below 5,000F.
According to Dr Rao, the amount of water needed by emergency responded to ultimately put out an EV battery fire of this scope is 20,000 gallons of water: 10-times more than what's required to quench the standard combustion-engine automotive fire.

A gas-powered vehicle fire, he and his fellow researchers wrote for The Conversation, only burns at up to 1,500F (815C).

Elon's hitching his wagon to Donald. Good luck with that bro.

History has proven collaboration with Trump always turns out great.

Elon has blown up Twitter ($44 billion down the drain) by telling advertisers to **** off and now he thinks it's wise to mix business with politics.

What's next, doofus... ya gonna have Space-X supply North Korea?

‘His rhetoric has made Tesla toxic’: is Elon Musk driving away his target market?

There are signs the billionaire is becoming unpopular with the very demographic group most likely to buy EVs

again. Elon's model has never relied on the fake green market pushed by the government.

he created the modern EV industry in this nation. did it for years before any of the big guys caught on. he did it with NO government subsidies at the time.

if the EV subsidies dry up, he EV competition dries up. he will be the last one standing. and he will be selling a product that works, and is self supporting, and not required by the government. the government push is the ONLY reason any of the other major autos are in the EV business, its 100% manufactured demand by the government that is hurting the real market. remove subsidies and reset the market, and he is in the same spot he was at the start, the sole company with a viable EV model in the industry.

When you say "fake green market"... wtf are you talking about? Are you suggesting that electric cars are "bad"... not more "green" than normal combustion-engine cars? If not, lemme know what you mean.

It's pretty obvious what he means. Govt subsidies and incentives expanded the market for EVs, prior to .gov throwing our tax dollars at it there was Tesla and maybe a couple others.

My son rented a Tesla in VA while visiting his gf recently. Said his “next car” was going to be a Porsche Taycan. I said “you mean your first car”. He drives my wife’s Macan. I must be paying him too much.
