Electric Vehicles

Don't worry too much about day to day market value, nor think that Tesla's value today is reflective of future EV value (Tesla stock plummeted earlier this year simply because Elon got involved with Twitter) - Tesla is selling 100k's of units. We have an EV in the family, and it's wonderful for local-area travel.

Look up Gilbert & Barker Self Measuring Gas Pump and Gulf's first drive-in gas station (Pitt PA) -- i.e. more and more charging stations will come on line just as what happened in the early 1900's (imagine planning to drive county-to-county back then).

Silverado will be EV in '24 and there's a great looking Equinox releasing soon. Quality China EV's will likely be hitting the US market within 24 months / sooner (?).

EV heavy duty (3/4 and 1 ton) trucks will be an epic failure for the manufactures who push them. Most 1/2 ton trucks are just grocery getters for suburban guys too ashamed to drive a minivan.

Glovebox is kind of annoying. On that same token, the frunk is super convenient but I always forget that it’s there.

You just cant beat the amount of room for hauling stuff. I like the bottom storage area in the trunk. Yea I keep forgetting about the frunk area.

LOL I had to do some looking to find out how to open the glovebox. I have gotten use to it. Also, you might want to take a look at the "carwash mode" if you run it through automated carwash facilities.

how did Space Force acquire all them scouting badges? I must have missed all of their meritious services for this country.

My thoughts, too. I guess being charitable, they could have transferred them from other branches of the military. It gets more ironic, though.

Space Force guardians now eligible for Air Medal, Bronze Star and more

Nurses and other crew members were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for delivering a baby on the Afghan evacuation flights. That's a higher award than the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. The Air Medal in the past was awarded for flying multiple combat missions. Medal creep across all branches is definitely out of control. I'm surprised there isn't a medal for pencil whipping daily happenings into the heroic category - somebody probably has to accept a Commendation Medal for that ... although these days the Legion of Merit might not be out of question.

Breaking …

Biden’s Secretary of Energy has vowed to only go to war with countries who have sufficient charging stations on the battlefield.

Furthermore, she wants to humbly ask our enemies not to cut off power in these war-zones so we can charge our new electric vehicle army every couple of hours.

And we also humbly request to have a cease-fire every 2 hours, so we can fully charge our equipment. 🤮

That last sentence contains an oxymoron.

Nah we'll just haul around a bunch of generators to charge the EV's. Of course we'd need tankers for the generators.

Yep…. She’s an idiot

I've heard of them. Are you saying they're high quality? I don't hear good things about their buses.

I said quality, as being in the context of Berkshire Hathaway interest (if you've heard things about BYD's buses, then you know BH generally deals only with quality products).

Even Toyota had to recall one of its EV models (things don't always go perfectly during these early stages of development).

What things did you hear, about their buses ?

I wish all you folks would go ahead and go electric so demand for fossil fuels will go down thus making my deisel fuel $1/gallon.

In brief, that they have a lot of build problems.

'They're killing us!' Furious truckers slam California for banning sale of new big rigs and buses that run on diesel by 2036 to slash emissions - warning it'll drive businesses into bankruptcy

Truckers have slammed California regulators for voting to approve a 'first in the world' ban on the sale of new diesel big rigs by 2036.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) said they hope it will put The Golden State on a path towards fully-transitioning trucks that travel across the state to zero-emissions by 2045.

The new rules, named the 'Advanced Clean Fleets Rule', is the first in the world to require commercial trucks to be electric.

2 week report: one of my first thoughts in the morning is that I can't wait to drive to work. Love the interior and the tech, but both are upgraded on the performance trim.

However, like the Jeep, I'm spending some fun money on pimping it out. Tesla definitely shaves money by skimping on exterior styling, mats, storage, etc. Good news is that stuff is a helluva lot cheaper than lifts, shocks, and full bumpers.

"a lot of" -- ok, thanks for the info.

BYD Seagull -- currently priced at approx $11,000 U.S. (will take a while for U.S. commuters to realize they can spend, e.g. $0.025 per mile VS $0.11 for their 50-70 mile 1-1.5 hour commutes to the city and home).

The BYD Seagull And The Promise Of The EV Revolution
cleantechnica.com

The F-450 has many good uses.

"There are any number of reasons why the BYD Seagull would likely be shunned by American consumers, who expect any car to be capable of carrying at least 7 passengers plus a week’s worth of camping gear while towing a ski boat up a mountain to the lake on summer vacation."

Well, if this is the way you're looking at the future of EV, then one could reply: most 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are parked at and driving from one part of town OUT TO the suburbs (or, in from the small towns to the city suburbs or across county to gentleman farms) to work on the houses of the guys driving the 1/2 tons (e.g. repairing their 5 car garages housing their Teslas and Ferraris and Lexi etc). I.e. your "grocery getters" are paying those who own the 3/4 and 1 tons (but, many of the "grocery getters" also might have their own 3/4 tons).

But, I'm not looking at it from that perspective ("grocery getters"). I'm looking at the facts of technology and travel costs, for commuters and those who drive generally around town and in-county (ease of use / low kilowatt hours VS high fuel costs ; low-minimal maintenance / fewer parts / no oil / quality of build / etc).

I think you are sorely mistaken on your assumptions but in any case I'm not opposed to EVs, what I'm opposed to is forcing EVs onto the market and forcing the removal of the IC engine.

Did you have to get fire insurance on that thing ??

So how much does it cost to charge a non-Tesla at a pay station using non-green energy to charge the battery ?? Real question.

As far as quality of build, I doubt being an EV makes it better built. I'd hate to be seated in one when it goes up like a Cambodian Monk.
