EndZone USA communist kickball thread.

In keeping with WWII alliances, England defeated the Slovakians, who aligned with the Nazis when they supported their independent state. The Czechs were occupied by the Nazis, and their patriots joined the allies with their government in exile based in England. Alas, the brief reunited Czechoslovak Socialist Republic was squashed by the Soviet eastern block in 1968. The invaders strengthened the Communist Party’s rule of the country. Only after the dissolution of the Soviet Union did the Czechs and Slovakians realize self rule.

My fondness for LondonVol kept me from rooting for a Slovakian upset, but England’s triumph doesn’t impel me to hope for their ultimate victory. IMHO, Spain has a stronger team.

My son's HS team made the State Tournament. They were the only team there with an AA kid.....

You wonder why we suck at soccer? We limit the sport to the best suburban kids with money....

The best athletes are playing basketball, football and baseball, that is why we cannot get over the hump.

Travel baseball is doing same thing to baseball. It's why % from DR and Latin America increases every year with only a tiny % of the budget/population...

I dunno that I agree with this. Baseball is getting unbelievably hard to play without money for sure. But those that have the talent find ways. I know several that get “sponsors”. Several great baseball athletes still play.

Not to mention, baseball is just hard. Way harder than it looks.

And I'll add that they all wish they were pitchers. I'm always amazed when I watch minor league ball (single-A) at how good the batting is, but the pitching is definitely the weak link. Half-way decent pitchers get moved up.

Travel baseball provides an avenue for the best players at a HS to get on a team and laugh at the HS coach that cut them when they don't have the last name for a subpar HS roster.

If Willie Mays and Henry Aaron were growing up today, they'd likely never play baseball (or soccer)..

The pay for play in soccer (especially) and baseball has hurt those sports in America....

The Dominican Republic has .0001 of the world's population and a per capital GDP that approximately travel sports annual cost but they have 12% of MLB players.....

Baseball is hard for sure but largely limiting it to suburban kids has hurt the sport when it comes to ratings/revenue. Travel ball at 7 and 8 years old is beyond dumb. It's why a speck of a country (DR) has such an outsized presence in MLB...

the DR and other Central American and Caribbean countries have such a presence in mlb because baseball is emphasized there. Same with futbol in much of Europe and South America. Hockey with Canada, Russia, and Nordic countries. Football is king here but that’s changing in youth leagues due to safety concerns. Baseball has always been expensive and’s land consuming and a big reason basketball reigns supreme in urban areas. Not to mention, it’s hard to play even with six people
