We tried to blitz. Bennett burned us on the TD run and other times we couldn’t even get to him. I know it’s not a UGA thing but the announcers said early in the game we blitz more than anyone in the country save a couple teams. You can’t blitz every single play. When we blitzed Bama early they adjusted to spread us out so they could see our blitzes better.

CLEARLY...without even mentioning the weather, the crowd and the penalites....WE ARE SIMPLY NOT DEEP ENOUGH to waltz into Ga home turf (probably the most raucous crowd in their history which is good for them) and win an emotionally charged game like this. The blitz package they used just overwhelmed us. We did miss on at least three deep balls that we have been connecting on. IMHO any mention of being outcoached is like picking apples off the ground. It's an easy way to vent frustration. Actually, when breaking the game down...don't think we could have ask much more from our defense (we clearly had at least two major bust there as well).

Agree. Georgia has a much more talented roster but I was disappointed I didn’t notice any positive halftime adjustments, particularly on offense. Plus I would have liked to see Hooker get rid of the ball a bit quicker to avoid some of those sacks.

Still, they are 8-1. I’ll stop whining.

UGA had something to do with that poor offensive effort. This is how Hooker or any QB will play when he is on his back or pressured almost every play. UGA just plain out smacked UT in the mouth

IMO we were beaten for two major reasons

bad decision making on the qb
coaching - little or no adjustments made when needed (play calling, defensive schemes, snap count, preparation for home crowd, etc)

Just wasn't our day.

You don't stop blitzing because of him scrambling. You coach up your edge ushers to contain and bring different blitzes. Most of our blitzes were run blitzes on 1st and 2nd down. On 3rd down, 90% of the time, we would show a sugar blitz and they would drop and we would rush 4 maybe with a DL stunt

By reading some of the post here...We MIGHT need to enforce the "NO POSTING FOR AT LEAST 2 DAYS AFTER A LOSS" rule for many. Your perspective is clouded by taking it too personal.

We have yet to figure out our best OL frequently is Wright and we don’t utilize him enough in our run game. We spend way too much time running off guard the strength of the opponents defense.

Yes, Bama has a lot of 5 stars too but Georgia is just flat out better on defense than Bama. All credit to Smart. They have more talent than us and he had a great scheme to take away what we do well. And the crowd noise bothered our OLine all night. We need better players at DB, RB and some more linemen to compete with Georgia and that ain’t getting solved in one year of recruiting. At the end of the day though, we should be 11 and 1 and who would have thought that before the year started?

You are right. Although that blitz package that our left side could not solve didn't help either. The late shift that they do kept disguising where the blitzer was coming from.

We blitz to cover up our deficiencies at DB. Those deficiencies are also why we give so much cushion. We don’t have a single cornerback that can play press man to man like GA has.

We did run blitz a lot. The fact is UGA is just more talented than us. We’ve beaten other teams that were more talented but this just wasn’t our day.

How many losses does Kirby have from teams where his composite recruiting rankings are lower? He has done a good job, but don’t know that he has done a damn good job. How did he allow his team to only score 3 points in our second half? He under performs like every other coach but with fewer rational justifications. Saban as well. Move Kirby down the road to GT and what do you project. Why?

They are more talented. I just feel like we need to be more aggressive in certain situations.

If you blitz but leave a cushion you're just creating an area throw into. I don't think they could play man any worse than zone.

Georgia has 14 5 stars and 59 4 stars on the roster. We were outmanned on both sides of the ball. Looks like they will play LSU in the SECCG and will likely win easily. The only team left that might be able to match them in overall roster strength is OSU.

Not worried about being out coached, but we do need to address the secondary coaching it’s not to SEC standards.
