ESPN already setting the CFP narrative

I never once said having 3 weeks off was better.

I’m simply saying that we get the same time off as the winner of the SEC and will have to play one less game to do so. No one with a brain is turning that down.
Not true.

Same time off, yes. Just shifted a week. But not one less game.

We play one less up front (missing Atlanta) but play one more starting a couple of weeks later (the #5-#12 first round). So it's a wash. Winner of the SEC plays up to 4 post-season games, and an at-large CFP team plays up to 4 post-season games.

Now, if you wanted to say we play one less game than the LOSER of the SEC, you'd be right. But don't run from a challenge just because you might lose. That's a loser's perspective.

Getting to Atlanta is ALWAYS worth it, a goal to be fervently pursued. Every year.

Go Vols!

Last I checked the loser of the SEC (And Big Ten) will have played 13 games before their first round playoff game. We will have played on 12 prior to our first round game.

As I said, not having to play in the SEC title game is far more reward than risk
You risk going on the road for a playoff game, which will be almost impossible for this team to win given how they play on the road. Even a home playoff game is far inferior to a bye getting you into the second round

Atlanta is meaningless. Yall are only trying to talk it because of the rage you will have when you can’t understand why the loser, especially if Georgia, won’t be penalized for it and drop below us in the rankings.

Oh no. I’m worried about a road game in order to make it to the quarters. We should just say thanks but no thanks to the committee. I can’t believe the amount of whiners and scared “fans” there are. It appears the fans who were crying about big bad Vandy all last week have now shifted their pearl clutching to having a potential road game for our first round of playoffs.

Cry cry cry

Everything is meaningless to the person who values nothing.

News flash, friend: A whole helluva lot of Vols fans (and fans of every other college team) care greatly about winning their conference championship. Just because you don't, that doesn't render the accomplishment meaningless.

Okay old head.

I’ve noticed every time you have taken an indefensible position as far as you possibly can, you then call others “whiners who are scared” for not taking Vols by Fiddy memes as gospel.

Yes because those teams CANT take a spot ahead of us in the rankings. It will give us a better chance of hosting
SMU and Clemson are already ranked behind us. Miami will be behind us after the next rankings with their loss this weekend. The ACC champion will automatically be ahead of us. So the best scenario would be a close win by Clemson and the committee only drops SMU down a couple spots. We DO NOT want Bama and USC jr. in the playoffs.

I was very vocal about my confidence all last week about the Vandy game while tons of scared threads popped up. I shouldn’t be surprised that the if tons were scared of having to play at Vandy’s recess field, they would be scared of the first playoff game regardless of opponent.

I’d say we were shown why some had concerns given that we were down 14-0 rather quickly

Yes the people pearl clutching over the first 5 minutes of a 60 minute ball game really thought they were justified for their fake fandom. Couldn’t be me.
It speaks volumes to the intelligence levels of those who think you can only be a real fan if you never think your team could possibly lose.

Oh we can lose. Just not to Vandy. That game was never a risk. Just because they beat a Mid Bama team, that was no reason for the panic and fear mongering by some here.

They had been competitive in all of their games but one, and we struggle on the road. We also tend to struggle when stakes are elevated. It was reasonable to think there could be some difficulty, and for a half there was.

Anyone scared of a team that lost to Georgia State needs help.

They dropped Georgia like a stone after their second loss, not doing the same to Ohio State after getting beat by a bad Michigan team shows everyone that this committee is ate up with the BIG 10. Sankey should have demanded more SEC representation on the committee. Shame on him.

I am shocked at how she has landed a golden parachute going from ACC chief reporter for ESPN to CFP reporter.
I just turn the channel when they bring her on. You know it’s got to be a big 10 fest every time she ranks her teams.

For comparison, here are recent instances where teams lost on the road and where they fell the following week:

TN lost at Georgia - from #7 to #11
IU lost at OSU - from #5 to #10
Miami lost at GaTech - from #4 to #9

These were all road losses and the teams dropped 4-5 spots. TN and IU had road losses to ranked teams. OSU team favored by 3 TDs lost to unranked Michigan at home… the committee should should absolutely drop them at least 6-7 spots… but they won’t.
Just wait until ESPN gets in to their all out BIG10 bias campaign mode. No way will we get a home game over OSU.
