Do they hate us or something?
40 years of watching the Vols, I think today was the grittiest performance I've ever watched. The stars have to properly align and UT has to take care of its business to even be in the conversation. If the team can do that then they will be right in the middle of it all. Today was a thoroughly earned road victory. A great step. They still need to take out UF and Missouri, probably both, and not stumble along the way though. I am very close to believing that they can do it.

Should we be pulling for UK tonight?
They just "gotta" go 3-1. An L to Florida or Mizzou won't kill them. Will make it more difficult, of course, but they won't be out if they do.
That still likely puts them behind Bama and Ole Miss in the SEC standings, and likely with a lower RPI than at least Ole Miss if not both.
Looking at the resumes for these teams, Tennessee doesn't really have any standout wins that the committee can look to in order to include them over Missy and Bama when those teams have better conference records. Gotta get the win over Florida.
No stand out wins? Really? Kentucky is now 2-1 without Noel, will likely get to 20+ wins, and that one loss was by 30. That's significant enough. They'll beat Miss. State and UGA, Arkansas is a toss up, and Florida is now a toss up with their injuries. So, they could potentially (and not outrageously) finish 23-8. That'd probably be a top 40 RPI.
A point was made in another thread that if we finish in the top 50 rpi we're helping to build Ole Miss' resume, who at present only has one rpi 1-50 win. That still likely puts them behind Bama and Ole Miss in the SEC standings, and likely with a lower RPI than at least Ole Miss if not both.

Well, again, Kentucky is barely on the lip of the last 4 in, with a better conference record than UT.
But you're right in that it appears that UT, Kentucky, Bama, Ole Miss and (to a lesser extent) Arkansas are all competing for the 3rd and 4th SEC slots.
Who says that is all the SEC is going to get in? There is no guarantee that only 3 or 4 teams will be in. That's the point. If the Vols win 3 of 4, win a game (or two, or more) in the SECT, things will be interesting.

That would give them 3.
We need to win both games to have 4.
all other RPI and SOS factors favor TN.
The win/loss would mean nothing.
