Ole Miss shouldn't be a concern to us. Bama and Kentucky have far tougher roads to get a bye than Ole Miss does. Arkansas can't play ball away from Bud Walton and Mizzou is a non factor because we'd take the head to head with them as long as we take care of business in Knoxville. It's ours to lose at this point. The big question mark game IMO is Florida @ Kentucky. The cats will no doubt get creamed against Arkansas but Florida has road issues as well. Also, going into Georgia will be difficult for both UT and UK. Should be interesting but if we win out, it's hard to see us not getting a bye.

Both are RPI 25-50 wins. Wichita State is 8 spots better, but both are in the same category.

Wichita St. is 24-5
Ole Miss is 20-7

IMO too much is made of power conferences. I mean, again IMO the only true power conferences are the Big/Dwendling East and Big 10/12.

I bring this up because I think this is the only reason Ole Miss is in the same category currently as the Shockers.

Both teams have losses to 100+ teams. Ole Miss has 1 top 50 win vs. UT's 2, but if UT continues to do well, then Ole Miss will have 3 top 50 wins. Ole Miss has the better RPI, better road record, better win ratio vs top 50-100 teams. It's not nearly as favorable to the Vols as you'd like to believe.

Also, look at the most recent brackets that have gone up on The Bracket Matrix. Tennessee is only listed on 3 of the brackets 40+ updated since Saturday, Ole Miss is listed on 22 of them.

UT is almost in a catch 22 with Ole Miss because the Rebels swept the Vols this season. If UT does well, then Ole Miss will have the better resume. If UT does poorly, then, well, the resume comparison is a moot point.

Not every one of those brackets has been updated...look at statsheets bracket, it has UT in. There's not much point in arguing it because there's no reason to at this point...if UT wins tomorrow night we will see which team is gettin more tourney talk.

You're also making it sound as if it's one or the other, but if ole miss and Tennessee both win out there's no reason that they both can't get in.

That's why I only took the brackets that have been updated yesterday or today into account.

At this point, the "tournament heirarchy" in the SEC appears to be this:

1. Florida (clinched)
-------
2. Mizzou
3. Ole Miss
4a. Kentucky
4b. Tennessee
6. Bama

I hope we play Ole Piss in the SEC Tourney. Not our best matchup in the interior, but we more than held our own at their place and that was before Stokes and especially Golden started really playing well. Bama is a lot like UT. Grind it out teams that are going to keep games in the 60's.

Ole Miss SOS = 154. That's the reason why they have 7 loses. The only decent OOC teams they have faced all season is Indiana State and MTSU...they lost both. The best OOC win is Rutgers and San Francisco. I'm not saying they aren't a good team but I'd gladly take 4 or 5 other SEC teams in a matchup in Nashville and if they do make it to the dance, I don't even see them making it to the sweet 16.

Gotcha. I agree at THIS POINT ole miss probably is above us...but if both teams go 4-0 or 3-1 I think Tennessee's end resume is better...add in the fact of closing much stronger than the rebels and I'd have to think we'd get the nod, or better seed.

I hope we don't. We have a bad history with them lately. They are a bad matchup for us, and if I have to see Henderson parade around the court with his tongue flapping out like some wannabe gangsta in another win over UT, my television is likely to suffer facial trauma.

I want to beat their ass because of his punk ass. And make him eat the 10 out of 10 comment. Hopefully, he'll have to settle for 2 out of 3.

If Kenny Hall gets his head out of his butt, we can match up with them. All we need is what he gave in the Ky game. He shows up about once every 5-6 games. He's due now.

My point exactly... although I sure would hate to face either of those decent teams they beat out of conference in the big dance. I think the both could pull an upset if they get in. And it looks like(barring a total colllapse in their tourney) MTSU is in.

Haha...I hear you. I can't stand him.

Word of warning though...never put your hope and faith in Kenny Hall. You'll likely walk away disappointed.

I stuck up a lot for Kenny, but I have to admit when I was wrong...

Special "I was wrong, you were right" to Sparty on that subject.

I'm not banking on Hall giving us much. I'd just like to see his occasional 9 points and 7 boards game. He's good for one of those every now and then. Just depends on what Kenny we get. When he plays like that, UT usually wins. We'd still have to find a way to guard Henderson though and we haven't in two games. However, Ole Miss plays very little defense and our offense has gotten better since those two games. That's why Ole Miss will run into a Wisconsin type team that'll clamp down on them and they'll be knocked out early. They play very little D.

And thats if they make it in the tourney. Their SOS is so bad if they lost to LSU the last reg season game and get bounced early from the SECT I can see them not getting in.

Kenny Hall is that one kid that comes along that no matter what a coach says or does, he isnt going to play with serious effort and passion unless he feels like it. When he does, he is a good player and a game changer.

Bolded isn't necessarily true. There is at least one reasonable scenario where UT wins out and only gets a 5 seed.

Exactly. Tennessee needs some help to get into the top 4. And I don't see it happening, personally. Every team ahead of us could easily win out, particularly Florida, Ole Miss, Mizzou, and Bama. Of course, if any of those do win out, that means another didn't, but there are several possibilities that could prevent Tennessee from getting that 4th seed.

Bama could not easily win out. They go to Florida. Missouri is irrelevant b/c we play them. Florida and Ole Miss are likely to win out.
