Both are RPI 25-50 wins. Wichita State is 8 spots better, but both are in the same category.
Both teams have losses to 100+ teams. Ole Miss has 1 top 50 win vs. UT's 2, but if UT continues to do well, then Ole Miss will have 3 top 50 wins. Ole Miss has the better RPI, better road record, better win ratio vs top 50-100 teams. It's not nearly as favorable to the Vols as you'd like to believe.
Also, look at the most recent brackets that have gone up on The Bracket Matrix. Tennessee is only listed on 3 of the brackets 40+ updated since Saturday, Ole Miss is listed on 22 of them.
UT is almost in a catch 22 with Ole Miss because the Rebels swept the Vols this season. If UT does well, then Ole Miss will have the better resume. If UT does poorly, then, well, the resume comparison is a moot point.
Not every one of those brackets has been updated...look at statsheets bracket, it has UT in. There's not much point in arguing it because there's no reason to at this point...if UT wins tomorrow night we will see which team is gettin more tourney talk.
Wichita St. is 24-5
Ole Miss is 20-7
IMO too much is made of power conferences. I mean, again IMO the only true power conferences are the Big/Dwendling East and Big 10/12.
I bring this up because I think this is the only reason Ole Miss is in the same category currently as the Shockers.
That's why I only took the brackets that have been updated yesterday or today into account.
At this point, the "tournament heirarchy" in the SEC appears to be this:
1. Florida (clinched)
-------
2. Mizzou
3. Ole Miss
4a. Kentucky
4b. Tennessee
6. Bama
I hope we play Ole Piss in the SEC Tourney. Not our best matchup in the interior, but we more than held our own at their place and that was before Stokes and especially Golden started really playing well. Bama is a lot like UT. Grind it out teams that are going to keep games in the 60's.
I hope we don't. We have a bad history with them lately. They are a bad matchup for us, and if I have to see Henderson parade around the court with his tongue flapping out like some wannabe gangsta in another win over UT, my television is likely to suffer facial trauma.
Ole Miss SOS = 154. That's the reason why they have 7 loses. The only decent OOC teams they have faced all season is Indiana State and MTSU...they lost both. The best OOC win is Rutgers and San Francisco. I'm not saying they aren't a good team but I'd gladly take 4 or 5 other SEC teams in a matchup in Nashville and if they do make it to the dance, I don't even see them making it to the sweet 16.
I want to beat their ass because of his punk ass. And make him eat the 10 out of 10 comment. Hopefully, he'll have to settle for 2 out of 3.
If Kenny Hall gets his head out of his butt, we can match up with them. All we need is what he gave in the Ky game. He shows up about once every 5-6 games. He's due now.
Haha...I hear you. I can't stand him.
Word of warning though...never put your hope and faith in Kenny Hall. You'll likely walk away disappointed.
Big win! 6dn (6-0), 3 to go. @ Georgia Sat., @ Auburn Wed, Mar 06 & close out @ hm Mizzou Mar 09.
Win out = going dancing.
SN: Win out also means auto Quarter Rd. (Top 4 SEC teams)

Bolded isn't necessarily true. There is at least one reasonable scenario where UT wins out and only gets a 5 seed.
Exactly. Tennessee needs some help to get into the top 4. And I don't see it happening, personally. Every team ahead of us could easily win out, particularly Florida, Ole Miss, Mizzou, and Bama. Of course, if any of those do win out, that means another didn't, but there are several possibilities that could prevent Tennessee from getting that 4th seed.
