ESPN Reporter Allegedly Tells Sen. Josh Hawley ‘F*** You’ Over NBA, China Criticism

The privileged NBA players love being champions for social justice when it costs them nothing and is easy. Crickets when its hard and could cost some money though. Their true character shines through.

You guys are so silly with the standard you hold NBA players to. Show me anybody who speaks out on something that will cost them and all the people they are professionally associated with millions of $. This behavior doesn't exist in the world. Most of you would eat China's **** for $100k, let alone be quiet for $100m.

You guys support politicians who sell you out to special interests for far less $, why look to pro athletes to be the most principled people on the planet? How desperate are you to attack them if this is the angle?

LeBron James has done more charitable work than everyone in this forum combined.

He has more money than everyone on this forum combined, even after all his charitable contributions.

Maybe he could use some of his "work" to help the Uyghurs in China, or some of the scientists who were "disappeared", or the residents of Hong Kong.

Oh, wait . . .

I hate politicians with a passion. That's why I preach neither political party is any different from the other in reality. And your correct about the double standard issue, there should be no problem pointing out their hypocrisy but they're willing to look the other way about the very issue they are willing to wear on their backs for cred. That's hypocrisy. And your willing to give them a pass because you either like their product or because you claim to support the cause..... Again an example of hypocrisy. It is what it is.

It's fine to say it's hypocritical for them to say nothing about China, but to play this like it's an ace up your sleeve against the NBA is so stupid. It's basically nothing. You're attacking them for doing what literally anybody in their position would/should do.

Would/should do? If they are compromised by their compensation they should avoid backing oppression by police when they support it by association elsewhere. It's either wrong or it isn't. What they are saying is oppression is not ok, unless it makes us money. Take an authentic stand or don't bother, they've made their position as hollow as a chocolate Easter Bunny.

They don't make money off the oppression.

What you're saying is "if you are willing to speak out on topic x, you should always speak out on topic X, no matter the circumstances, otherwise you are compromised." But that's not the way anybody should think. You speak when it makes sense to speak, and don't when it doesn't. Otherwise you're worse than a hypocrite, you're a fkn idiot

No, what I'm saying is if you're going to call out a group for topic x while the group your in bed and making lots of money with is infinitely worse regarding topic x. And you and your company trip all over yourselves to avoid doing anything that might shed more light on that oppression, because it suits your interests..... Money. It makes everything you do domestically look hollow at best and blind effing idiots at worst.

They're choosing that hill to stand and fight on and show solidarity with. They also choose to ignore the same oppression when directed at a group they care nothing about.

It makes them unprincipled hypocrites, if you're going to ignore it then ignore it. If your going to call it out then call it out, otherwise they should STFU because I don't really care what said groups opinion is on the subject because that opinion had been established as worthless.

That's what happens when they want to use "their platform" to push their agenda of oppressed people while refusing to address the horrible human rights violations CURRENTLY occuring in China. Their hypocrisy runs thick.

So they care nothing about them or they sold them out for $? Which is it? I can't keep up with you holier-than-thou types and your inconsistent (baseless) judgements of others.

You're on the record bashing American politicians...if somebody asked you to bash Chinese politicians and it was gonna cost you and your employer $billions, would you punt or yap? Please tell me you're stupid enough to yap

It is a stupid argument you set up, for several reasons.

He isnt just some dude, just some innocent bystander on the social justice scene. He has planted his flagpole saying he is going to stand up to injustices in this world.

Additionally, again he is not just some dude, he is going to be wealthy beyond most any normal standard no matter if he yaps or doesnt. So it isnt the same as a guy that needs to maintain his salary to feed and house his family, thus he refrains from yapping.

If I claimed my hill to fight on and said I would fight against oppression like he did why would I not say something. That is what a principled man of character would do isn't it? If a man like James were to take a stand and walk away what do you think that would do? He wouldn't miss a dollar lost and would have made a huge impact. Hence my original statement of playing social justice warrior when it's easy and costs nothing. I would respect a man who did that, from the sound of it you would think him a fool. That tells me all I need to know about where I stand on this argument.

Literally nothing. China will continue to be China if they shut out the NBA. He can be a cultural bridge from USA to China if he plays basketball and gets exposure in China. None of you guys have thought this thru.

So you're saying you would yap if it cost you and your employer billions? You're really gonna say that?

So you are saying being a hypocrite, being a sellout, and compromising one's values is alright if given the right circumstances?
