Etsu fulmer presser fri 1st

Some people think this means Fulmer would like to coach there. What it really means is Fulmer wants them to ask him to coach, only to turn them down and then be hired for a hefty fee as a "consultant" to help ETSU orchestrate the rebuilding of their football program.

And what would be so wrong about that? Friggin ETSU could do worse for a consultant. And the man has every right to earn as much money as he wants.

You seem to to think that everything PF does is for money or ego. You obviously dont know, or choose to ignore, all the great things he's done both on and off the field and not all necessarily for UT. I feel sad for you that a few down years under his coaching tenure made you that jaded.

I love Phil Fulmer. Personally, I think the ETSU job is beneath him. I think you misread me. I'm not really hating on Fulmer as much as I am pointing out that fans are interpreting this much different than I am. JMO.

Winning the East is easy and a product of luck I guess. Check back in with me in a decade or so when UT wins another shot at the SEC crown and then tell me how easy it is.

Yes. "2007 Eastern Division co-champ" has a nice ring to it. Especially when you lose to your two rivals 59-20 and 41-17. That's not "backing in" at all.

You can make as many excuses and nitpick as much as you want. Do u see me saying we were robbed out of a bcs spot in 01 b/c we whipped uf at uf and we deserved to go over them? **** happens sometimes in college football--its never as perfect or absolute as you are trying to make it. Belittle it as much as you want, but 3 SECCG appearances from 2000-2008 is success. Just my two cents. We can agree to disagree about that.

3 East crowns. In 01' we were 15 minutes from playing miami in the natl champ game....would have been 2nd in 4 yrs. The other 2 SECCGs we were highly competitive against undefeated auburn and eventual natl champ lsu. Yes, i would have liked to take the next step and win one or two of those, but if championships are your measuring stick for success, there's plenty of big name coaches out there that get more respect than PF and have done far less. Just my 2 cents.

...And even though 2000-2008 were not as good as his #1 IN Nation Record throughout the 1990's, Coach Fulmer still had (during his worst period) 6 First or Second place finishes in the SEC East and also 6 finishes in the Top 25 National Rankings... Bear Bryant had a period of consecutive years where he lost 7 out of 8 bowl games and tied the other one... some of these people would have fired him...

I think Fulmer got to the SECCG an exceptable amount.

2001 - They absolutely blew it.
2004 - One of Fulmer's (and definitely Randy Sander's) finest coaching jobs, but came up short in the SECCG to an undefeated Auburn team
2007 - We backed in. Call it what you want, but we backed in and didn't win the ring with that opportunity.

So yeah, he got there enough but he didn't win it. But if you'll notice each east champ was weaker than the previous. 2001>2004>2007 and we were sliding further and further away. Would we be in better shape today if Fulmer had stayed? Maybe. But we have the same amount of rings today that we would if he had stayed.

From 2000 - 2008 the East was a 3 team race. So we finished in the top 2 in 2/3 of the years. Big deal. I should hope so.

Um I think that someone was pulling the OP's leg on this one. Any word further on the topic?

Name all the BCS bowls and NC between 1965- 1990

1) There was no such thing as a BCS Bowl before 1998. It didn't exist, however when I was at U.T., we played in the Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl, and Sugar Bowl, when they were 3 of the top 4 bowl games. The Rose Bowl was the 4th, but there was a tie in between the Big 10 and Pac 8. These were after the 67, 68, and 70 seasons.

2) Tennessee was awarded a National Championship by Litkenhous after the 1967 season, but before the Orange Bowl, which we lost to #4 Oklahoma 26-24.
