Maybe there was a reason ETSU had gone out of the football business. If this is how they handle it, the real question is why did they bring football back in the first place.

Again that’s what is being reported. I doubt this was some gentle slap if what is being stated is true. Most of the time it’s not something small

so, don't strike someone in the head, unless they're wearing a helmet, and it's really, really gentle?

look, i get it. don't hit other people. a rule we all likely live by every day, for good reason.

unless/until i see some evidence that this was something more than what most of us think it is....i'm going with "overreaction".

but i played football, and as many others have already said, it wasn't uncommon to get a slap to the side of the head, or a facemask grabbed and yanked, by a coach to get your attention.

My football coach used to hit us in the helmet with his ring hand. My ears are still ringing. Hit us with balls and tossed us around WWE style.

I think I might have CTE from all the slaps my coaches gave me. I thought it was a normal part of practice.

And kicked in the shins while he held the facemask so you could not get away.
Of course we also drank water from a rubber hose during breaks. Oh the abuse.
What a bunch of crock.

In other news, Sanders has reportedly had players line up five yards apart and run at each other with one of them trying to make what Sanders refers to as "a tackle."

This story is still developing.

hope he just gets disciplined and sent back to work. that sounds like a minor offense not to lose a job over.

Losing Satterfield to Baylor probably was a blessing. He stunk as a HC at TTU and himself was suspended for disciplinary reasons.

I hope for his sake it is nothing......but it all depends on how violently he did it or if it was just a "get your attention" slap.....goes back to the ole saying...."never strike your child in anger"......

What if he pulls for Georgia and takes your last beer?

Idk if this is true, its a rumor, but BruinVol over in the recruiting forum said Sanders told a sulking player to take a knee and sit out of a drill when the player refused Sanders hit him to the ground

Reminds me of when Woody Hayes punched a Clemson player in the gut because he tackled one of his players during a Bowl game a few years ago.

Um, no, Woody came out onto the field and took a swing at the Clemson LB (Bauman?) that picked off the Buckeye pass and was returning it. That was the last game ole Woody ever coached.

It was the Clemson nose tackle that intercepted Art Schlicher's pass. He was tackled at the Ohio State sideline. Woody throat punched him. Woody really didn't get his money's worth. Not really a solid punch.

Stories like this just show where our country as a whole are headed. Didn’t care when Butch hit the player don’t care now. Good for them in fact. These players need to grow a sack and listen to authority. And people act like some of these thugs deserve some sort of salary haha
