Even More Obamacare Follies

Well to be fair , many of the posters on here are very anti-ACA. You are going to be reading to reports that portray it as the worse thing that ever happened. There are definitely problems with the program, is it as bad as it is portrayed to be on VN ? no it is not.

Agreed. Not perfect by any means. But not as terrible as it's made out to be.

That's a matter of opinion Gramps. If you were in my shoes you'd be singing a much different tune. There's no way in hell you'd think the ACA is anything more than a huge pile of ****.

You pay $1250/month for a $6300 ded plan and see how it suits you.

Whatever happened to that $2500 savings you were supposed to get? It just can't be, Obama promised.

You say this because you're somewhat protected by your company's group plan. Step out on your own with a combined household income over $95000 and see what you think then.

Its complete BS that I get overcharged for my sh***y health insurance in order to subsidize this POS

As I posted yesterday, you need to shop around. From what you have described about your health plan it is a piece of garbage period. I am old enough that i am ready to sign up for medicare and granny and I have been paying less than that for a much better plan than you have.

I think that maybe it's the differing qualifiers you guys have??

Our family insurance went up when this crap was implemented. The insurance companies had to absorb the cost somewhere.

Gramps we went from a 0$ deductible to 3k deductible. Lost some coverage. It's ridiculous to penalize the working folks.

That's my point Gramps..... I have shopped around. I'm going to post the rates for BCBS, United, Cigna and Humana once I get my hands on them.
Once I show you actual numbers and plan details you'll understand why I want to kick everyone's ass over this. I didn't just run out and pick the worst plan I could find.
I think I posted some of the rates last year. .... Buried somewhere back in this thread. They sucked then and they're a lot worse now.

Agree.

After reading CP's post yesterday. I went onto healthcare.Gov and snooped around some today.

Premiums being up or down, I don't know.

What I did see that I did not like was very few plan have a set doctor or prescription drug fee. I have been use to paying a $10 copay on a doctor visit $25 to a specialist. We also have a $8 generic drug copay, $25 copay on name brand.

What I was seeing today was a percent, like 20% after the deductible on doctor visits and prescriptions. That change along can run into several extra out of pocket dollars dollars per year. I did see deductibles from $0 to $13,000, some may be higher.

It does appear at first glance the 2016 policies are not going to be as good as the 2015 policies for the insured.

What age group are you in CP? If you don't mind saying.

But I'm like a fine wine.....

Mentally I'm still 16

Could go some where with that, but I'll behave. I'm 45. There's no doubt the body starts to give out before the mind. I still feel relatively good, but the difference is definitely noticeable after 40 or so..

Shut your dirty mouth.... :)

(Just turned 41)

I didn't really notice much of a difference until I hit 45. Then I started noticing longer recovery time and more aches and pains from things that never bothered me before.

Don't forget to call that number if it's been longer than 4 hours.. I called the number once when I was hammered and they asked me how long ago did I take the pill? I told them I hadn't taken anything.😜

My point is in your post. It's had it's issues and is perfect by no means. There are parts that need to be changed. That starts with both parties getting their heads out of their asses and working for the country instead of themselves.

But there are good parts to it as well. The part where no one can denied for coverage stands out to me. Or that your insurance can't drop you because you got sick and you have allot of medical bills.

I feel for you CP I really do. And I in no way would want to be in your position.

48.... Wife is 46

Age won't help on rates. I was thinking you were in you mid-late 30's for some reason.

I wish you the best. All I know is shop and shop some more, you might get lucky.

Have you priced through the marketplace? If not I would check it out, you may find something there. In my zip code in TN it is showing pricing on several BCBS plans, a few Humana and United Health plans. It can't hurt to look.

50 is where I could tell a big difference. It was like the day I hit 50 my body started a slow downhill journey. By the time 60 rolled around it didn't matter...lol.
