Everybody seems unhappy that we beat Florida.

Florida is just different than when we played and squeaked past Vandy and Ky in the 90’s.
Other than the occasional competitive game with Vandy , primarily when Woody was DC or HC I see very little “squeaking by” in those 90’s Vandy and KY games .

No one is unhappy we won
Many are unhappy in the way we won

Florida is a garbage team this year and a week ago prior to the Arkansas game sports media were talking about how we could contend for the natty. The. We get beat by Arkansas and luckily beat Florida. They had many opportunities to beat us and we handed it to them on a platter

What is this? We have like 3 wins in the last 19 games against Florida? Something close to that? And some fans are so unhappy that it feels like we lost? Or is it that you didn't cover your bet and you lost money? I think we were favored by more than a TD. Well, I really have NO sympathy for you. Me, I loved the win and will all year. Enjoy your betting.

I'm afraid that a lot of us got spoiled by the Hooker/Hyatt years and the electric offense we had. I know I am. We had Golesh creating some great plays and it was really fun to watch. This season is different and although we have a decent team, it is not the one we had a few years ago. We thought a five-star QB would solve everything but it didn't. On the upside, our defense is much improved and can make huge stops when not gassed. We're just gonna have to realize what we have and hope the team can continue to find a way to win. I know it's frustrating as hell we didn't clobber Florida but a win is a win, and that game should reset our expectations for the rest of the season.

Stupid thread. I haven't seen anyone who is unhappy that we beat Florida.
I think you might want to revisit some of the posts. There are multiple that appear to have been made by someone that got the score backwards.

Even Hendon Hooker took actual playing time on the field to get the hang of this offense. Also, do not forget that he was a starting QB at Virgina Tech. He had the advantage over Nico in that he had already faced live competition against D1 talent and environment.

We have beaten Florida 9 times in my lifetime (38 years)

Keep crying but I’m still celebrating.

I for one am happy we won. Florida still has many talented players who are poorly coached. Saying that, our offense must improve to have the season that I expect. There are no SEC gimmes left on the schedule including Vandy and KY. Even MS State only lost to GA by 10 in Athens.

It’s not that, trust me I’m thrilled that we pulled it off but to act like we don’t have serious problems on offense is crazy because we are supposed to be competing for a conference championship and when Alabama and Georgia beat us we are headed to another useless bowl game. It’s just super disappointing that we have an elite defense and now the offense sucks. If we had an offense that could at least score thirty points, we’d go undefeated. We can’t stop holding and killing drives. Go Vols!
Agree with all but "when " bammer and gawga beat us... I'm going with if ; we were 4 or 5 bonehead plays from blowing the gators out...got to clean the crap up!

Assuming any game to be a "gimme" is one problem. Not appreciating winning would be another. It is far too easy for complaining people to complain nowadays. Which is another problem.
But really people are just mad that it wasn't a blowout that they could brag about at work tomorrow. That's the real issue behind all of this whining. Bunch of ungrateful armchair offensive line coaches and qb gurus. As far the next game goes (which is what's really important), a point win is all it takes. Anything else is extra. GoVols 🍊

You should go back and take some English comprehension lessons if that's your interpretation of what others are saying
I comprehend pretty well. If you look at the post again, you should see that I was making the allegation that SOME would be unhappy because they bet on the game and lost. It was more than 50% of the whole post. Don't you remember reading that? Yeah, comprehension. No biggie. We won.

Bro,

Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Florida have been PATHETIC offensive performances.

Nico has thrown 1 TD in those past 3 games with a bye week sandwiched between.

So yes one week has actually TURNED INTO THREE and why it would it stop????

We had 19 points in the first half against Oklahoma mainly on several explosive pass plays. We went conservative in the second half cause we knew they couldn't score. Arkansas and Florida were bad performances but that's to be expected in a long football season. No one plays well every game.

We got our mid-season funk out of the way. I expect an explosive offense going forward starting with the Alabama game this Saturday.

Some of you see one poor play and you start a false narrative about it
My comments are not about a single play, so not sure where you draw that from. My comments about not preparing the team for big games goes back to 2022 losing to Georgia and then average South Carolina. If you go back you will find we were having the same conversation about JH during/ after that season. Fast forward to the next season...all last season folks questioned playing an ineffective JM and not playing Nico and give him some game time experience for this year so we could avoid being where we are today= still saying he's a freshman needing to be given more time. It's about play calling, it's about being game ready, it's about doing the same failed plays in a game and not changing anything. But on a positive note, the defense was great and deserves the game ball IMHO

I think it has to do with the fact that if you don't make the playoffs, the postseason is pointless. All the top players opt out. Thanks to the Arkansas catastrophe, we are one loss from being eliminated from playoffs.
If we just lose One more we make the playoffs

That was some seriously bad football, especially from Florida, who somehow took us to overtime after 60 minutes of keystone cops football. No amount of blubbering on a forum is going to change that. However......

The defense is very good. Sampson also very good. People say the line is "terrible" but obviously that's just I'm-a-true-vol-fan-and-you're-not legions of the miserable speak. They are not as good as we'd like. Tennessee is not the national champion team right now. Tennessee fans have not gotten accustomed to other teams being national champions, and after 120+ years of football, I guess they're not gonna.

I also think though Nico could have a "hot night" where he hits those receivers in stride and you have a very different game. You could get a huge improvement there just for free. He has overthrown a bunch of bombs here lately but I think he recovers from that. If he happens to have that hot night against Alabama we may beat them.

We won the game, just like we won the Oklahoma game. They didn’t give it away, we took it from them. Our defensive front 7 is and will continue to be a nightmare for opposing qbs and offenses. I don’t predict us getting blown out or boat raced by any team this year. Every game will be tight

We caught a huge break when Mertz went out with the freak injury. Plus, they lost the bruising RB Henderson as well. He was hurting us in the first half.

No plenty are unhappy. Mainly cause they don't understand football is a one week season each Saturday. They think how you play one week will necessarily translate to the next. So they're assuming that because Florida isn't very good then us struggling with them means we're not good either. This folks seem to get amnesia every week cause anyone who knows anything about football knows the transitive property doesn't work. Alabama can beat Georgia one week and lose to Vandy the next. Which is why you should never be unhappy about winning an SEC game.

I'm not posting much but do you realize Vanderbilt is a good team? They just beat Kentucky at home. You know the team that went down to Oxford and beat Ole Miss. You know the team that had Georgia on the ropes and should have beat them too.

So yeah, that was a garbage performance last night. Not because it was a one off but because this followed another bad performance the week before where we took an L against an average beat up Arkansas team that finished the game with a backup QB.

However, any win over Florida is a good win because better Vols teams have tasted defeat. The issue is this team could barely move the football.

With NIL every dam game is gonna be a one off. The parity is real. It is not like it was.

Unless you are willing to stand in the face of these athletes and call them "garbage" to their faces, it is snively and cowardly of you to say it behind a keyboard.

We should be in a position to win every game this year, but things are not what they have been with 4-5 dominant teams.

If stars matter, I don’t understand the argument there is parity.

Bama has 15 5 Stars on roster
Vandy has 0 5 Stars on roster

I’m also going to assume Bama has a much richer NIL budget than Vandy.
