In reference to the thread title I think everyone just wanted to beat them badly so we all could feel better going into this weeks game. But as many have said just getting a win against FL is good as hard as they have been to come by.

I think you and I agree almost 100%. It wasn't a win that we would call satisfying. But I don't think either one of us is "unhappy" that we somehow avoided losing.

Correct. My stomach, heart and head were in hyperventilating overload for probably 24 hours after the game. Hell, who can be happy when your pulse is 200 over 80??

And Hack, today I am still quite numb towards the game. I watched a bit of the replay late this afternoon and wanted to jump through the screen and slap some players and coaches on the head and yell at them for boneheaded mistakes - as there were plenty to go around! Because we got outplayed and out coached and very easily could have lost against the worse Florida team in 20 years and it was at Neyland and we are "supposed" to have one of our best teams in many years.

When Tennessee beats either Florida, Alabama or Georgia, it’s just by the skin of their teeth. Just once, I’d like to see the Vols really kick their butt and then kick it again for good measure.

My feelings exactly. I get so tired of squeezing by the big guys. I've felt for years I just want to see a Vols team be feared by other teams because we line up and dominate . The closest to that dream was the 2022 team and then again, we squeak by Florida and Bama both, lose to Georgia. I must say the BaseVols were that dominate team this summer winning the NC but even they got tested the last game with T A&M

Assuming any game to be a "gimme" is one problem. Not appreciating winning would be another. It is far too easy for complaining people to complain nowadays. Which is another problem.
But really people are just mad that it wasn't a blowout that they could brag about at work tomorrow. That's the real issue behind all of this whining. What an idiotic post. The AP poll dropped us to 11 and we are not in playoff conversation. The close win mattered and the media polls showed it. Blow out Florida, and that would NOT have happened.

No CFP polls are out yet. You don't know what the committee will do in 3 weeks, and neither does anyone else.

We have won 2 out of last 3 years. There will be more in the future. Do we have things to work on, no doubt. Are they correctable? Absolutely, offensively we will break out. We had a few near misses, but we did manage to score 23 points in the second half. And we did pretty much shut down the gator offense in the second half. The SEC is tough, but it’s like Cole Cublic said tonight on read and react SEC fans griping about wins that don’t look pretty need to remember at the end of the day the WIN is all that matters. We’re 5-1 and everything is still out in front of us. The season evolves, teams evolve and adjust as the season goes. Things don’t stay the same. Enjoy the WINS. GBO!

Fans are happy we beat Florida. However, many are unhappy we lost to Arkansas and almost lost to Florida. They will continue to be unhappy until the offense becomes good enough to hold up its responsibilities of pointing points on the board.. Remember, we are now playing SEC teams instead of the caliber of teams we played earlier in the season.

When has beating Florida ever come easy? We don't blow them out. We will never blow them out. Its the one game a year that florida will circle on thier calendar and bring thier A game. I personally will never be unhappy with a win against them.

I am happy with the win. Their are some questions marks for the team, but beating Florida is special and beating them 2 out of 3 years definitely nice regardless of how.

Well, I could be wrong. I will retract my statement if anyone can link to a comment by one of our fans saying they are actually unhappy that we won the game -- or that they wish we were 4-2 this morning, instead of 5-1.

The fact you’re taking him so literal when it’s clear he is paragraphing the fact people are complaining of how we won, not the win itself.

He is correct in the fact that there is more negativity after this Florida win than I’ve seen after previous Florida wins.

Nobody is saying “I wish he had lost” but they are saying “we suck, we’re not good, the Florida win doesn’t matter bc they suck too.”

We are 5-1 and people are acting like we are 2-4.

After the win, instead of the board celebrating, it felt like a funeral.

I don't think it is that we beat florida, it is how. We looked bad. They outplayed us for the most part. But ugly wins are still wins and sometimes you get those. We needed a couple lucky breaks back in 98 too.

Saw a video of the players/coaches/staff extremely happy with a win over Florida on the field and in the locker room after the game. If they can be happy with the win, why can’t the fans? Yes, we have football issues… but in 2024 losing to Florida is not one of them. Be glad.

I get that. They had an out of proportion reaction. And then OP had an out of proportion reaction by claiming that they were unhappy that we won. We're just gabbing here, it's not a deposition.
