Again, your tactic is deflect. You know there are entire branches of psychology devoted to studying this negative behavior. So I guess you're now backing down from your original line of thought on how it was all McKay. The Dungy portion came in later. You were the first one saying that Tampa Bay's ring was him. Dungy came in after that. So I guess that means your concept of a timeline is flawed.

Also, quite odd that the mention of bringing in Parcells to be VP of football operations thus bumping McKay means he must not be that godlike after all. It only took how many years for Blank to see that? That ring must have lost its Wonder Twin powers or something.

If you're clueless enough to give credit for a Super Bowl title to a someone who wasn't even employed by the team when they won it, you're not worth my time. Go have a Bible study with Dungy or lick the boots of the Smith family.

And if you're clueless to think that McKay was the only force determining team efforts and building the team then I think Blank will be in touch for your own superior intelect. Cute little childish insults about bible studies, Dungy, and FCAs aside, you've yet to prove your point. Perhaps you can help McKay find a job or polish that ring of his. Maybe your circle of friends "on the inside" can all hold hands and comfort McKay and tell him why he lost the magic he never had. Hugs might help as well. Sing kumbaya while you're at it. McKay's fallen off the pedestal you put him on. You will never admit it but fact and reality has proven you wrong.

Since you seem to harp on Dungy, let's just do a comparison of both Dungy and McKay since they both left Tampa. Where do both stand again? I'm not here to give props to Dungy. I've merely pointed out that clearly McKay cannot handle things on his own. Judging by history and circumstances, McKay has relied on others for success and when left sole control he has failed miserably. Seeing how the great Blank has pulled McKay's plug, I'd say Blank in his infinite wisdom has come to that same conclusion. But I guess somehow Blank's actions will be tied to Dungy as well.

Amazing how well Indy has been since his arrival. And note the quality of the players in the draft. Notice the difference between the building of the teams, the picks (first round I might add), the development, etc. Again, not trying to use your method of deflect and distract but looking at McKay's history you have to admit his abilities, whatever they may be, are not all they're cracked up to be.

And for whatever it's worth, hell has frozen over as we agree on Trooper.

That linebacker the Colts took from FSU in the first round a couple of years ago is working out fantastically. Dungy makes mistakes, too.

The level of coverage and how they covered it is not even close. They did hit kicky some but not near the level. And if you don't think the interests of one of ESPN's largest sponsors doesn't matter then you are not as smart as I gave you credit.

Never said he didn't. Just showing that McKay's not all someone makes him out to be. Just using Dungy as one small part of the argument. McKay's actions by themselves are proof enough.

You'd think Fulmer's one title makes him a genius?

They covered it incessantly because Petrino was even bigger of an asshat than Saban was. Along the Continuum Of Sports Jackassery, lying repeatedly to the media is not as bad as shaking the hand of and lying into the face of the owner who's paying you millions of dollars, and then quitting on the team to whom you've spent the entire year preaching "Total Commitment" and "Finish." The outrage has been worse because the offense is higher.

I'll be the first to argue that corporate ownership and sponsorship of the real news has an enormous effect on the coverage thereof, but this is a little too granular for me to think that Home Depot sponsorship dollars have had much of a legitimate influence on it. I can't seriously believe that guys like Herbstreit, Salisbury, Kornheiser, Tom Jackson, etc. are sitting there with little fax machines with pieces of paper spitting out orders like BURY PETRINO STOP HOME DEPOT DOLLARS AT RISK STOP

So Saban was not lying to his owner and players? You are obviously a Falcons fan (for some reason) and it hits you more. But this has been blown out of proportion by all involved. I have no dog in this fight but it is funny how they lambaste one coach more than others. How about Lou Holtz and the Jets? I wonder if they will say anything bad about the Tuna doing a 180 on Blank? And you are fooling yourself if you think $ from sponsors has no pressure.

1. I'm a Falcons fan because I've lived in Atlanta for a long time. Unlike many of the people on this board, I didn't pick my pro team because I liked their team colors when I was eight years old.

2. Lou Holtz was also a gutless quitter when he walked out on the Jets before the season was up. Happily for him, that was before cable television existed, so there was no opportunity for the sports media to grind him into the ground for a week over it.

3. I don't find it plausible that sponsors have such all-consuming, detailed power that they dictate what is said on opinion shows like PTI and its ilk. Would sponsorship money possibly have enough clout power to, say, kill an in-depth exposé about rampant steroid use or tax evasion among the Falcons? Sure; the Disney executives have killed negative ABC news stories before. Are guys like Wilbon and Jaworski and Sean Salisbury and Bob Griese piling on Petrino because a memo came down from on high about Home Depot sponsorship? I just can't see it.

I don't think you want to see anything except busts on BP. Busting BP is a very, very easy way to make a big sponsor happy and hurt no ones feelings except an extremely small market (Arky). If you think otherwise then so be it. This is done or things like it all the time. Roids, HGH or other major topics? No but to go after a coach like this is very easy to do and it makes Blank happy. Hell he even told BP that if he left he would make it misserable on him. But you go ahead and believe what you want. It appears no one wants to work for Saint Blank!

But you know $ talks louder than anything else. Does BP deserve to have been nailed? Yes, but not to the degree he has. You know it but you enjoy the fact that someone you don't like is getting drilled.

I really don't think Petrino has gotten it any worse than Saban did. Personally, I think Petrino behaved in a more despicable fashion.
