Fans Leaving Early?

I agree, noon games can be & are rough, depending on the weather and late summer ... also people, like us, have to change their travel plans & some hotels require a two night stay now... that's BS!! Later games sure are the best but I still feel really, really bad for those folks sitting in the worst of the sun yesterday, no cloud coverage and no breezes to speak of. UT really needs to rethink their scheduling..

Because its hot? God people are so whiney nowadays. This is the south. Its hot. Its humid. This is nothing new. Get over it or stay home.

You know what, after all these years we've missed a total of 1 game- 1 game!!! Excuse me but I do not happen to be whining, you got a better idea to keep 120 people from either passing out or getting sick, while sitting in the direct sun? At least they were there- yes it's the south, yes it's humid but those factors don't mix when the sun is shining directly on you... It can be torture to some, but by Gosh they are there enduring and not complaining.. and don't tell me to get over anything, please.... Maybe some that think people are whining should be placed directly in said sun, no water and enjoy the game! :good!:

Oh let me also add, my husband was going through radiation therapy & didn't miss a game! I had a broken ankle when we parked at Locust Street- it was hot, like yesterday, and I walked a mile too and a a mile back in a cast- yes I saw stars three times and had to lie down- does that make me less of a fan? Heck NO! So it's no one's business why fans choose to leave early or not! :good!:

It was hotter than a popcorn fart. In the third quarter, I saw the devil with a blue and red Italian ice cup hanging out by the mens room in the concourse.

Weak? Passing out or having heat stroke isn't weak.. Ever think the person might have a true medical condition but by George they come to the games. When its hot. Humid and no breeze, it can be horrible but people were there. Geesh.. Weak..wrong!

Sarcasm meter turned off?

We were at a game back in the 90's, no clue which one, and it was incredibly hot. Smokey was removed from the game for fear that he was overheating. Meanwhile, band members in their wool uniforms were passing out, and not a peep about them.

I'd sure hate to have a sousaphone player in the row behind faint on me...

People have strange priorities.

I was in A, row 23 with my wife and son (UT freshman).. That side of the stadium gets worse in the early afternoon hours. I'm 52 and used to working in the heat but have to say it was dayumm hot.. We left mid 4th quarter.. My son and I were fine but honestly I got a little worried about my wife.. She's tough but wasn't handling it very well.. We were amazed at how many we saw with babies in strollers.. I told her I didn't think I could justify bringing a child under 5 much less elderly..

Coach Saban scolded Bama fans for this kind of behavior.

In that case, I'm totally fine with people leaving early to avoid heat stroke.

I wonder if Sabian put the AD on probation for calling the FAU game with 8 minutes left.

Watching here in ATL and wondering why so many fans decided to leave early. The stadium looks pretty empty on the top. The game is NOT over. They could still come back. We need to get some fan endurance. After too much losing recently, I think we've forgotten a game has 4 complete quarters. "For what?"

And it was an early game. So it's not like it was late and people had to be at work in the morning. If you go to the game, finish it off until the clock hits zero. Recruits notice this. The media notices this and tends to comment on it if we have a fan base that is excited. Next home game is Florida. Let's pack the stadium for 60 minutes of football and help ole Moosechamp along in his farewell tour.

People who complain about folks leaving games early are dorks.

Maybe the have a job to get to, a long, or very long drive. Maybe the heat is just too much. Maybe they've got a child or elderly person along they're worried about. Maybe they're worried about running out of gas sitting in lines for 1/2 hour trying to just get out of Fort Sanders. Or maybe they just want to beat the traffic. There's a possible reason for each and every fan who paid for a ticket, and whenever they think they got their money's worth is their business.

Me, personally, I like to make my way to the Pride and listen to them play The Tennessee Waltz after the game, which is one of my best and most favorite game day traditions. I'll hang a few more minutes as the stadium totally empties and think back on what was happening just an hour ago; 102,000 Volunteer fans going nuts! Mosey to the car and drive home.

Ya'll who can should join me. It takes a lot of stress out of getting away after the game.

Anyone that uses the word dork has the mind of a 12 year old. People act like they were walking in the desert in the Middle East. Hydrate before the game, put on some spf, wear hats, and get a couple bottles of water throughout the game. How do people survive on the lake all day? You are getting hit by direct sunlight throughout a much longer period of time. And before people hit me up with their individual medical conditions, most people there don't have medical conditions. So either you are the exception to the rule(glad you came out) or making up physical limitations (stop being a pansy).

Don't know about you, but I always jumped in the water. :hi:

The atmosphere was very quiet and more social than most games. What I mean by that is that the attention was on other things other than the game. Combine that with the humidity and the sun beaming down on most, it created a perfect atmosphere for folks to leave.

This was a causal and family crowd for Saturday's game. I wouldn't get too upset about it.

let me ask all you vol coaches saying playcalling sucks! if you were playing teams like utah state and arkansas state would u give just enough to get by with a W or would u throw everything u got at them?

no you throw what it takes to get a win and save your real play calling for teams like OK

wrong thread?

Personally, I think it's silly calling people out for leaving early regardless of the weather conditions.. They paid 'their' money for their ticket and can do as they please.. To each his own.. Surely there are better things to whine about...

First of all I never leave early. However, some fans are older and need to get to assisted exits before the crowd really develops in to a traffic jam.

Yesterday, many of the folks that were leaving early said it was because of 1) the heat, and 2) they forgot to put on sun screen.

Consequentially, I did see more than one person having to be attended to by medical responders due heat exhaustion.

Sounds like it was a great game to attend in person. Hottest one I've ever attended was UCLA back in the early 90's
