Fauci-gate

No, I'm not - why would you assume that I am?

I don't recall asking a question.

I didn't "whatabout" trump - I was simply pointing out that if you keep Fauci in the news cycle, you're also keeping Trump in it. I believe this is some sort of paradoxical abortion that while you think it's doing harm to Facui's cred, it's really a Fauci hating echo chamber that is keeping Trump in the news cycle for everyone to see and for all the wrong reasons.

Here's your "question" that I said was answered:

I guess I don't see all the hub bub about Fauci.

Here's your "question" that I said was answered:

OK, I see and understand where you're coming from on Fauci, I do. But In the scheme of things, I still think it's a mistake to continue using him a punching bag.

It's about as effective as blaming Fred Rogers because the trolley was hijacked by some Antifa thugs during an uprising in the Kingdom of Make Believe.

Now about your analogies...o_O

Interesting article from 2014 when gain of function research was being curtailed before being continued again in 2017.
Bio- Un safety Level 3: Could the Next Lab Accident Result in a Pandemic?

They specifically reference using GOF research to potentially develop a vaccine for SARS.

Interestingly, Lipsitch shares Osterholm’s concern, saying he fears that efforts to rein in flu research will have an impact on other work as well. “Things like work on SARS…[which] is clearly more scientifically justified than work on invented flu strains—especially because there is no vaccine—could get curtailed.

1) That agency name lost a great deal of credibility playing politics. They will no longer be trusted by the sector of the public that has common sense.
2) Goes right through the masks. Even with 2 masks, the virus droplets are so microscopically smaller than the mask construction, they still go thru.
Like throwing rice at a chain link fence...

I read about this yesterday but it didn't register. This is some interesting stuff...

Interesting indeed. Lots of dots are being connected. This part is really interesting and one of those things that just make you say hmm...

"Adding to the intrigue, Zhou later died under mysterious circumstances in May last year — something being looked into as part of the international investigation ordered by President Biden, the paper insisted.

Despite being an award-winning military scientist, there were no reports or tributes, with him just listed as “deceased” in a Chinese media report in July and a December scientific paper."

You know, I had this thought in the back of my mind last year and now it is starting to gain a bit of steam as this story breaks. But my thinking now is that if these guys really had a concern that this was a bioweapon or some man-made virus, that may have been the original motive for calling for lockdowns. They really did have a fear of the worst from this unknown bug. But as time went on, they ended up taking advantage of the situation to help with the elections or for other objectives.

If they had concern about it being a weapon I'd think they would have acted much sooner instead of waiting till mid/late Jan to do much. IIRC the Chinese govt were aware of it in November but didn't want to impact Chinese New Year travel.

From foreigners, to take it back home maybe?

Can this be considered a soft act of aggression or worse? Knowingly allowing a deadly virus to travel cross continent to other nations that would kill and infect the world, and then try covering it up?

I'm sure the govt in China wanted the virus to go global once it was obvious it was going to be an epidemic. I don't think it's a coincidence they shut down domestic travel between cities and domestic flights, but still allowed Intl flights into and out of Wuhan for days after the domestic travel was shut down.

But I think that's more an economic decision. Chinese govt didn't want to be the only significant economic impact and made sure the virus was exported around the world.

Would anyone put it past a communist dictatorship, like China, to engineer a virus which selectively killed the aged, unhealthy population? They are a drain on resources, after all.

Nope

Judging from the emails, I don' think there was really any concern about that until sometime in February. Probably after further offline discussions, that would likely explain Fauci's flip several weeks later.
