Fauci-gate

Posting in both threads but probably more appropriate here.

Surprise, lawgator picked the wrong person to give instant credibility to just because Trump had the audacity to question him.
Most likely the reason behind him trying to make the thread about Trump and Rs.

He's a doctor, dealing with a poorly-understood disease.

Do doctors get things wrong? Yes. Can they be overly cautious? Yes.

You listen to their recommendations, possibly get a second opinion, and decide the extent to which you'll follow them.

Unfortunately the media didn't follow this, nor did any number of government leaders from the Feds to the States to municipalities. Further when second opinions diverged the aforementioned not only ignored the second opinions; they attacked them.

It didn't stop with Trump - Biden came on board saying he would do whatever the science™ (read: Dr. Fauci) said.

He was treated as the authority that no one could diverge from. That's more than "he was just an advisor".

The issue is motivation.

The ONLY motivation of the right to continue to minimize covid is to try to excuse the disastrous lack of leadership from Trump last year. To excuse his nonsense rambling and crazy nutjob claims.

The right is pushing all in on Trump and as the truth about him continues to emerge they are bound to see one day that they should have folded long ago.
LOL

You live in an alternate universe. Trump is being vindicated as time goes on with regards to masks, Hydroxychloroquine and the origins of the virus. Meanwhile, the opposite sides need to shutdown and lockdown the country is being scrutinized even more.

Here's my concern where we are now:

1. We're still finding things out, bit by bit.
2. There's tremendous spin and selective usage of the information coming out.
3. There's a chance that there may be a different conclusion become apparent once all information is out on the table.
4. A different widely accepted conclusion than the desired one may be ignored, and those whose narrative is no longer the accepted one may continue to push

Relative truth is wild. I prefer to address my bias by letting this play all the way out before firmly adopting a position.

As I said in the Covid thread - there's been enough for me without the emails to see where Dr. Fauci drifted in and out of the science to justify his recommendations. He's openly admitted 3 times that what he said publicly was said to model behavior even though he knew at the time it was not correct. That alone is enough for me to be highly skeptical of his public positions.

The real potential problem in the emails is whether there's any evidence he intentionally tried to minimize the lab-leak theory to protect particular interests (or worse, knows/funded some of the research). Like you, I've not seen enough to stake a position on that much bigger issue. On the "was he just telling us the science" question I've seen enough to say no.

As soon as I started looking at it the CDC data never backed up what the CDC said or did.

It's why I keep pointing out the party of science has never cared about science and has instead relied on appeals to empty authority.
CDC needs to be disbanded and reorganized...... they are completely incompetent.

You have gotten so partisan that objectivism has gone out the door.

Another thread you will have to abandon. We'll hand you your brown pants before you jump.

Uh yeah except this all started under Trump and we were saying the same ish last year. In fact most actively blame Trump for unleashing Fauci and backing off his "principles" (lolololooolol) giving into the Ds demands.

Again of the many thousands of things to hate on Trump for, why, why do you constantly make bs up?

I have never once downplayed the seriousness of Covid. Per the usual, you are incapable of having any discussion that isn't simply partisan hackery. Which is why you are trying to turn this into something about Trump and Covid being downplayed.

The ONLY reason you guys are attacking Fauci is an end around to try to make Trump look good/not horrendous.

Literally dont give a damn about Trump.

I am attacking a supposed person of science for lying to our country and continuing to perpetuate lies that helped lead to facilitating decisions that hurt hundreds of millions of people.
