Favorite Swing of All Time

Sheff was a very good hitter. But I don't like the way he shook his bat so much, didn't seem clean.
Pujols has a great smooth swing but I don't care for his wide stance.stan the man had a sweet swing as far as old dudes go.
Modern times is hard to argue with Griff Jr.
But looking good doesn't mean a great hitter just like ugly swings don't mean a bad hitter. Pete Rose was a great hitter and he was VERY ugly at the plate.

Best: Ted Williams (from the videos I've seen). His swing was true and ultra consistent.

Worst: Mike Hargrove because he isn't called the human rain delay for nothing. I'll let his actions speak louder than my words.

Sheffield didn't look very smooth. His seemed herky-jerky (scientific term) like he was swinging wild. Of course he wasn't, but it sure did look that way.

Sheff's bat was ridiculous!

Griffey Jr. had the sweetest swing. Is it just me or do left-handed batters tend to have prettier swings?
For whatever reason, lefties have that natural little uppercut. That's why they're deadly low in the zone. Quick lefty will flat munch low and in all day long.

Wasn't anything smooth about it. Bat was flopping all over trying to slow him down and when he unloaded, it was over.

Jeff Conine had a really nice restaurant and bar in South Florida when I lived down there. One of his favorite ways to regale the patrons was to tell stories about all the young flamethrowers in the Marlins organization who thought they would show their stuff against Sheffield in spring training.

Fastball ain't the route with Sheff or Eric Davis.

How can you tout Julio Franco and rip Youkilis? With the exception of Youkilis keeping his right hand so loose on the bat, it's pretty much the same approach.

I'm not seeing that many similarities between the two. Franco's was held much higher most of his career. Youkilis seems to dance at the plate. Franco was too busy showing off his enormous guns.

I'm with you with everyone except Ruben Sierra. He's a no go.

How 'bout Julio Franco? '88 All Star game vs. Rob Dibble, Wrigley Field. A great day in baseball.

I can't believe Franco isn't still playing. I thought he would play until he was 60.

I remember when I was younger watching Sheff with the Braves. There was this young pitcher (I wish i could remember who it was, but it was in 2003) who threw 95+. He tried to sneak the fastball by Sheff high and a little outside and Sheff just drilled 450 ft. Sheff just stared at him like "What the hell are you doing"?
