Federal Death Penalty brought back to life

Nope we’ll have to agree to disagree. And yes he was mocking Christianity again.

And no my “evidence” was from the actual written history of the sixth commandment in Hebrew and its misinterpreted English translation. Looks like he was successful in selling and transferring his argument though. Congrats?

If you are saying the sixth commandment is translated incorrectly, then you are stating that the King James version has an error. At least half the hillbillies on this board believe in the infallability of the KJV. Good luck with that stance.

Nope it’s a statement of fact on the true interpretation of the statement that started this whole discussion. “Thou shalt not kill” is not in conflict with capital punishment and that lack of conflict does not give free reign on abortion. Jewish law indeed sanctioned capital punishment however the rarely exercised it and put many impediments in its way. And rightfully so. But that isn’t in conflict with “thou shalt not kill”.

The Death Penalty in Jewish Tradition | My Jewish Learning

I’m sure septic appreciates you letting him step away from this fiasco though.

There is a difference between Christian thought and Jewish tradition on the death penalty. Why are you having such a hard time understanding that?

I cannot wait for you to try to explain that remark in front of God. The Crucifixion is an example of an innocent man being cruelly tortured and executed. Jesus said to forgive and have mercy.

As a Christian, I do not want the government killing in my name, which is what happens when the Feds or TN execute a prisoner. I believe I will be held accountable for it by God.
Feel better after spewing your hyperbole? State execution has been in place since biblical times. There was crucifixion as well as stoning. “The Crucifixion” was indeed unjust but it was indeed a state execution.

I’ll be fine explaining that in front of God.

A couple of the hillbillies on this board already pointed out the error in the KJV. Sorry/not sorry to disappoint. 😂

No hyperbole. Just my opinion. Slavery and sacrificing children to idols were also around during Biblical times and, like government executions, they are wrong thousands of years later. Again, tell Jesus his execution was ok because it was sanctioned by the state. You have an untenable position.

Wow you’re really butt hurt this morning. You gonna be ok? My comprehension is fine and I answered a specific question in the context in which it was presented. And I’m pretty sure you can find many Christians and Jews who are perfectly fine with the death penalty. Opinions on the death penalty don’t necessarily draw down religious lines.

So you got all your butt hurt out now paper tiger? 😂

You expressed your opinion using hyperbole. And now you’re sticking with a straw man. Guess you got more butt hurt to get rid of paper tiger?

When lightweights like you get over their heads in discussions, they pull out the "butthurt" card. You were blasted by Septic and now me. Using the New Testament and the words of Christ, it is impossible to reconcile Christianity and the death penalty. Christ was executed by a Pagan government, not a Christian one.

In the entire Western world, the US is the only one that still has the death penalty. It is mainly supported by ignorant American Christians.

So I just told you “we hillbillies” have already acknowledged the translation errors present in the KJV. Keep ignoring it though I guess. Derp derp.
Again, not everyone who believes in the infallibility of the KJV expressed their approval of your remarks. Just two people.

LMAO! Septic was wrong and I showed it and you’re preaching using straw mans and I’ve pointed that out too, now multiple times. Got a bad case of red ass going there paper tiger. Keep up the hyperbole 👍

Would like to hear OC chime in though I know and agree with his position. God said to submit to the law of the land back when the penalty for stealing a loaf of bread was to lose a hand, and the penalty for blasphemy was death. Our punishments under the laws of man have gotten much much lighter and time has passed. His word says he was fine with it before.

I don't believe that any man can twist scripture enough to make God OK with killing an innocent baby that He "knit in her womb and numbered the hairs of their heads". Nor do I think you can twist Gods words enough to make "though shall not murder" somehow be in conflict with every single thing he says about crime and punishment and submitting to the laws of the land. You folks may convince yourselves of that in order to justify your politics, but I believe God made it clear on His word . Dont thjnk you will be able to convince Him that He didnt mean what He said in order to cover for your sin. Neither will I...or any other man.

Now you’re gonna anger paper tiger by pointing out that God instructed his people to submit to laws which enforce the death penalty. I’m pretty sure his red ass will deepen now. Awwwwwww.

People who spoke for God in the OT may have supported the death penalty or harsh punishment, but Jesus took a different position.

No one was arguing about abortion but capital punishment. It is wrong to conflate the two. I do not disagree with you that abortion is killing, but remember that one person, not the elected government on behalf of the nation or state, makes the decision to abort. Capital punishment is enacted on the behalf of everyone. I do not wish for the government to kill people because, as a citizen, it means I have given them tacit permission to do so.

Where is the straw man in my argument?
I used the crucifixion as an example of state execution. And it was. I never debated it being just. However it WAS a part of God’s plan for us. You cannot state the crucifixion was not a state execution. You have merely latched onto it and extrapolated a just/unjust argument I was not making. Straw. Man.

You are the one who brought up the crucifixion and I ran with it. There is no straw man, just the instance of you making an half-a$$ed example and not thinking it through. Don't blame me because you look silly.

LMAO! You’re totally doubling down on the straw man 😂

The example of crucifixion as I used it was factually correct. You debating crucifixion in a totally different context is on you. You really suck at this logic and debate thingie paper tiger
