Well, of course it'd be better than what we've had; however, you're right that NFL and college aren't the same, which adds a lot of unknown to Gruden. Not necessarily a sure fire competing for championships every year hire. Might be; might not be.
Look at the facts. He is well Known liked and respected by most young recruits for his quarterback clinics and as MNF announcer. His name alone would bring in the 4&5 star recruits that we need. He has a Super Bowl ring. He is proven. No one else has the potential to turn this program around as quickly as Gtuden. He is our man.Mark it well, if the UT hires Gruden, we will be stuck with late Fulmer 2.0. You people talking up Gruden and Peyton as coaches are overlooking Gruden's ineptitude on the field and Peyton's zero coaching experience.
But Peyton is smart, he won't coach college and said so. he comes to the UT and falter as coach and you folks will treat him as bad or worse than Dooley. He's smart to not coach here but support the UT in all other ways.
Gruden is not the answer, who agree to be on his staff anyway? Be warned you Grudenites, the man is all show and no go.
How long do y'all think it will be before we hear?
OMG.....NO GOLDEN...how does he fit in the 'proven head coach' category.....two decent years at Temple? I don't think so.......jeez.....stop with the Golden talk puhleezeHyams just said he thinks these 3 coaches are the highest on Hart's list in this order.
- Bob Stoops
- Jim Mora Jr
- Al Golden
Said Patrino is the most qualified as far as getting UT to bounce back the fastest.
Of all those, Golden may make the most sense. Stoops and Mora won't leave. Hart is looking for a coach with integrity and Patrino doesn't fit that criteria.

I'm not rooting for Golden, but Hyams said he was told that a lot of people in the administration like him and think he would be a good fit. When you look at it from a realistic stand point, what successful coaches of big schools would leave where they are to coach at UT? Maybe Jimbo Fisher. Maybe Charlie Strong. Names like Stoops, Mora, Peterson, Kelly, and Shaw are all great coaches but probably won't leave where they are. Gruden is a big time long shot. So who does that leave?
If Hart and Co. ends up going that route, then expect the program to continue in the current state....
If it's Golden, I can find out quick. I have sources on his staff and also through work.
At this point, I would be surprised if it wasn't. Who has successful experience as a HC in a major conference, has great integrity, has been successful at recruiting, and would be willing to leave where they are now? What names can you think of that meet all four of those things that Hart mentioned in his press conference?
