It's pretty obvious that there has been a lack of coaching here, especially with this current team. Someone on here mentioned the UConn/Cuse game and UConn's offense.
It's nothing new really. Basketball 101. Stuff you learn on JV in HS. No player can move faster than the ball. If you make crisp, sharp passes, the defensive rotations will not keep up.
The other thing about the UConn/Cuse game is the effort from UConn. They don't run anything exotic on offense or defense. They just run it constantly with precision and non-stop effort. They are probably more conditioned than some of the men's teams but they run a high-motor all game long. So while other teams take plays off, UConn doesn't.
Now to this team, particularly DD and Russell. IMHO, DD has never been actually coached since she's been in college. Didn't happen at UNC and definitely didn't happen here. Her talent is through the roof but no one has actually coached her to cultivated that talent.
You can tell because she still appears to be out of control at times because of her tremendous speed and quickness. By now, with the proper coaching, her speed should look like she's gliding and fully in control.
I relate her speed and talent to John Wall of the Wizards. His first couple of seasons in the NBA were bad because he didn't know how to harness that speed. He would be out of control and get hurt a lot. By his 3rd or 4th season, he's done a great job of knowing when to burst and when not to which put's him more under control.
Russell's footwork and lower body/core strength are terrible. I've watched games where she's allowed smaller players to make her alter her shot or cause her to lose position in the post. I get the lumbering up the court stride she has but once she's in the post, that footwork and lower body/core strength should be better than what it was.
Maybe she needs to visit an NHL player off-season workout to work on the lower body/core strength. These guys are great at using their lower body/core to hold off defenders from the puck along the boards, on skates. I've seen a few of their lower body/core workouts online and she might benefit from some of it.
This team needs new blood at the coaching position. Someone who knows x's and o's and in-game/half-time adjustments and also knows how to develop talent.
