Florida sucks. We’ll beat them because we’re much better.
I agree. they don’t look good on paper. At all. I even started a thread in the NCAA forum discussing their schedule and making a bold claim that they might not win a game after October 7. I think that’s a very real possibility. All that said, things get weird when we play them. Look at last year, we nearly lost that game on some freak plays. I’m never comfortable saying it’s a definite W versus them.

We could very well lose at the swamp. Night game 85,000 loud fans and Joe’s first true road test and we always trip on ourselves down there. Gators will surprise some people this season I think.
He just won the Orange Bowl in South Florida. I’m good with his performance in that god awful state. Vols by fiddy.

Curious why the APSU gametime isn't set when every other SEC game is for that weekend.

Is ESPN waiting to see the results if the UVa game or what?

We barely beat them last year at home, do not get overly confident that we will stomp Florida at a place we haven’t won at since 2003. I would gladly take a one point win down there.

We did not "barely beat them at home"

We were up 3 scores with 4 minutes left. A couple of lucky bounces and miracle plays got them within Hail Mary range. We dominated them.

If you have to play in the Swamp, I'd rather play in the evening rather that at noon, 3:30 or 4:00, never saw Tennessee do much against Florida in the Swamp in the afternoon, but I remember that 2001 game when Travis Stephens basically ran to Orlando and back in four quarters and the team showed up at Tom Black Track to celebrate with the roses and then everything went south for the program and for Fulmer the next weekend.

Pretty sure Noon is the not the second best slot . Not for the SEC. Not week one. The first SEC CBS game is UGA vs USCjr, which is why we are on at 7:30 versus the Gators.

We wouldn't want to play at Florida other than at Night. You think it's hot in Nashville...... (screw the drunks)

2001 was a 3:30pm game, yes.

Tennessee at Florida was a night game at Gainesville the following years:

1991 (35-18 Florida)
1999 (23-21 Florida)
2005 (16-7 Florida)
2021 (38-14 Florida)

(Note: I presume 1985 was a day game but for some reason I’m having trouble finding any sort of start time noted anywhere online.)

330 slot is the prime slot in the SEC, the noon game is considered 2nd, 7 and 730 being next best and 4PM being worst

You’ve got it a slightly flipped in the middle. Contractually, it generally goes:

3:30 CBS spot
7PM and 7:30PM ESPN and ESPN2
12 PM ESPN/ESPN2
[7PM/7:30PM SEC Network spot, when applicable]
And finally 4PM SEC Network spot.

Though it’s also worth noting that - because CBS’s contract was written when they still had the rights to the US Open - this setup generally doesn’t apply until AFTER the first 2 or 3 weeks of the season.
