I hope I am wrong, and I usually am lol... but I have a gut feeling that Simons will go pro. I feel like he'll get some good feedback from NBA teams and go that route. It sucks because we might have to wait until June 11th to find out what he's going to do, I believe that's the deadline to withdraw from the draft. So potentially he could sign with us in the spring and still go to the draft I think. I don't think he'd do that though.
I think next years team will be special, but adding Simons could honestly make us a Final 4 type team. With just losing Daniels, we could possibly be a Final 4 team with, or without Simons though tbh. Thinking about the possibility of Turner, Simons, Bowden, Schofield, Williams on the court together at the same time gets me pumped up though. Simons and Bowden could really open things up for Schofield and Williams down low.
It is starting to feel like he wants to go pro and we are a backup option if it doesn't work out. I guess I would take that over him really opening up his recruitment and visiting a bunch of schools. Right now it seems like it's us vs the NBA. That's better than us vs a handful of blue bloods IMO.
That's my feeling as well. I can't blame him though it'd be hard to turn down the NBA, even if it's only waiting for one year. I think he'd go around the 15-25th pick in 2018 and there is a mock that I saw for 2019 that has him going 5th and one going 8th. The money difference between the 5-8th spot is huge compared to 15th-25th. So financially it would be better, but from a development standpoint going straight to the NBA would probably be better for him. Getting to practice with/against NBA players for a year compared to college players I'd assume would make you a better player.

He would actually get better with one year of major college ball playing big minutes in big games against older, stronger players. If he goes he would be on the end of the bench or bouncing up and down from the G League.
I think the chance to develop his game and become a top 5-10 pick drives him to college. Hopefully
I can see both sides. As a college player, he gets to see meaningful time in game situations against top-notch players, and showcase his game on a national level to scouts. In the pros, he won't likely get the same in game situations immediately, but his life will be all basketball, all the time. No restrictions, no schoolwork, no NCAA practice time regulations. And he's getting paid to do it.
Dal, you know that he had a really solid freshman season. It's nothing short of surprising to see his struggles this season, even considering his injuries.
before I would throw out a solid opinion of Fulk... Coach has commented on his athleticism more than once, and good things seem to happen when he is in the game, like when he crashes and keeps balls alive, drops of some assists for easy buckets for others from the high post area, and alters passes and shots... sometimes it goes the other way too of course.... but the plus minus stats would tell a lot.... I have been a Fulk supporter since the day he signed so I am not claiming objectivity... but he pretty much lost most development activity from the first injury till after the start of this season... still got three years to figure it all out.... So I will hope he is around for a while...
Exactly. Pro basketball is better for actually developing talent, but once youre drafted you are locked into your rookie contract. If he goes college, it wont be for development but to showcase what he can do and improve his stock.
Only worrisome I have with Barnes going after Simmons is the team chemistry.
Just hoping that he actually wants to play team ball instead of trying to get highlight reels to impress NBA scouts.
Im not against signing Simmons but lets not act like he needs to be One Man Show.
I think a lot of us were unsure if Alexander would ever figure it out, and hes done pretty well. Im willing to give Fulk the same chance to put in a ton of work to get stronger.I like +/- stats too, but they can be a little deceiving because it records the effect of the other 4 players as well as that of the player in question. If Fulk played 10 minutes exclusively with Bone, Bowden, Schofield, and Williams, his +/- could be skewed versus the same amount of time spent playing exclusively with Turner, Darrington, Pons, and Walker.
I'd also contend that an equal number of bad things have happened with him on the floor as have good things. His lost year of development just seems to have really killed any momentum he may have had, and now he is obviously being passed up by Walker. Minutes will be scarce, and he'll likely be recruited over in 2019. He's going to have to work really hard in the weight room, nutrition table, and in the gym on his offense to find a niché with this team in the future. JMO.

Fulkerson really needs to get his outside shot to work for him. More strength should really help his defense. He still has the potential to be a serious contributor.
He'd have a bigger role this year if opponents weren't as successful at dictating the pace or were playing more zone.
Just face reality, he's very limited and His best bet is to transfer
