Five-star SG Anfernee Simons visiting this weekend

From the available video he’s still nowhere near ready for the casual contact that comes with the NBA. Imo

And from the uninterested comments I’ve read so far he’s not really into showing his game at the college level either.

If he is the buy’n type, he’d benefit greatly by going to a school with a coach to teach defense and discipline. But we’ll see

Who cares what * the players have, Barnes doesn't want 1 and done freshman. I understand the need to recruit at a high level, but I know that the team we have this year is really good and I don't know a 5* among them. Slow your roll, Barnes is doing a great job for this university.
I usually agree that one and dones aren’t best for a team like ours, but NEXT year’s team is PERFECT for a one and done/grad transfer (think Daniels but better).

Anfernee Simons (No. 7)

Earlier this month at the Hoophall Classic, Simons said he was likely to at least test the NBA draft waters -- which obviously throws a wrinkle into his recruitment. He's eligible for the draft because he's 19 and a year removed from his graduating class. Simons recently visited Tennessee and is expected to visit NC State next month. UCLA, South Carolina, Florida and others are involved. It's unclear whether Simons plans to make a decision until after he makes an NBA draft call.

Prediction:
Tennessee
Confidence level: 40 percent
Others in the mix: NBA, NC State, Florida, South Carolina, UCLA
.

Tough spot for the staff having to wait, but if we truly only have 1 available scholarship to fill which I’m starting to think is more and more possible, then it’s not too bad. Hold out as long as your confident he’s going to choose UT if he goes the college route and if in May/June he opts for NBA you have an open scholarship when many teams don’t...possible graduate transfer scenario or raw freshman who could use a RS.

Given the returning roster, and other available options, and what he could bring, I think it certainly worth the risk in pursuing even if we end up w an open scholly

I’d like to think given the bright future for next year, should Simone go pro, we could get a solid grad transfer who want to be part of a tourney run.

Yup, I agree completely and think that’s likely this staffs plan. That said, I REAAAAALLLY wish there was a way to get Tyler Harris on the roster next season and Simons.

I am just curious. I am always seeing this really tall dude in uniform on the bench for UT. White kid looks taller than alexander. Anyone know who this is? Walkon, maybe?
