Rodney Garner is a great Coach AND Recruiter. He’s been both at multiple stops, including this go round here.Starting to think RG was never the legendary recruiter and it was more the cabin.
A couple of our younger edge guys look elite and he’s recruited that really well. I’d love to see us land or pickup an elite interior guy, but think he’s done a heck of a job for us. All schools that want to play, pay. Did then, do now. We’re no different then or now.
RG continues to get it done. Be happy we have him.
Hobbs was a borderline 5* and top 50 recruit. He was a pretty elite recruit for the interior. He'll play a lot next year so we’ll find out if he can live up to that.A couple of our younger edge guys look elite and he’s recruited that really well. Of his interior guys keep developing, that’s a tough one to be elite at early on. Grown man spot.
I hear ya but Mizzou had a great year and I’m sure Drinkwitz is selling the ish out of this season. This season was a fluke. You can’t be serious about football and choose to commit to Missouri. I can maybe get local kids, but if you’re not from that state and have commitable offers from really for real football schools - you don’t pick the place with rocks in their end zone and a stadium that seats 30k people if you’re serious about football.

Hobbs saw a lot more action down the stretch. West I think will make a good jump between this year and his junior year. He has started emerging at times this year. I think both of these 2 have a big upside over the next 2-3 years. Both have great frames to keep growing. GBOHobbs was a borderline 5* and top 50 recruit. But yeah we need to be bringing in 1-2 guys like him in every class to get to where we want to be.
rg will always be a recruiter. but for some reason this program seems to always end up 'one of my favorite schools'. hard to argue with their results in 24, but I still think we have some eye glaring deficiencies on the defensive line, and in secondary.Yeah cause we don’t have some of the best edge rushers in the nation and will likely be one of the top in the nation next year with all the young talent growing up.

Where are their holes on the DL?rg will always be a recruiter. but for some reason this program seems to always end up 'one of my favorite schools'. hard to argue with their results in 24, but I still think we have some eye glaring deficiencies on the defensive line, and in secondary.
how do we get to that next level?
Bahahahayou mean all the edge rushers Mike Ekeler is listed as the primary recruiter for?
Don’t get mad.
RG is a great coach but it seems he isn’t the recruiter he once was. He’s old school and kids are different.
At Auburn he routinely landed elite defensive lineman. Even Tennessee guys we pushed hard for we seemed to always lose to Auburn. We attributed that to RG. All im saying is it most likely was the shady cabin antics.
In 2022 we landed only 1 blue chip dlineman. Tyre West. Then two three stars (Jordan Phillips who has transferred out, and Jayson Jenkins who we all forgot was still on the team).
In 2023 we landed one blue chip in Hobbs and two three stars (Weathersby and Nate Robinson).
In 2024, we have Lindstrom and Heard as the only true DL commits.
Compare this with his classes at Auburn.
Because of this, we have a serious lack of depth along the DL and have to hope some guys elect to stay for their 5th or 6th year.
I’d never suggest RG isn’t a great coach and tbh he’s the coach I have the most trust/confidence on our staff by far. But the whole notion that he’s this elite recruiter hasn’t proven to be correct. Results have shown this so far.
