‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

A USC mod was saying the other day Tennessee and a couple of other schools are basically steering away from a particular “lawyer” that is representing several players in their NIL deals. Apparently that guy represents Mauigoa also. I guess they try to avoid going through him because they are concerned about future NCAA trouble with how he does things.
Wouldn't be surprising. Snakes are probably definitely coming out of the woodwork right now.

I know those stings but I'm not terribly upset. I'm not trying to say we didn't want him anyway. One of the main attractions to getting this guy was the prestige. There's a lot of dynamics when players chose schools because of money. When one guy gets a huge sum of money, others on the team, other recruits, expect the same, or at least close. When they don't it causes resentment and dissention. You can't pay a bunch of mercenaries and expect to be great imo. I predict we'll do fine with the other OL on the board. We need a dominant LT more anyway.

I believe in this 100%.

There's a lot of "Zen Master and the little boy" to this NIL deal. We don't know what the long term effects of any of this are because it just started.

I predict all time highs in flipping come signing day and I predict the transfer portal to become even more ridiculous. This is 24/7/365 free agency.

Yeah, Miami seems like they might be getting into some "Winner's Curse" situations. Who knows. It doesn't seem sustainable on their end, but no one really knows. Maybe they're just setting the market rate.

we need linemen, good linemen. Yes it was the prestige, we have a chance, finally to ink the cornerstone class. now we gotta finish strong.

I’ll not blame a high schooler for taking the bigger bag. I will blame Danny White for getting outbid on what was supposed to be our edge: NIL.

Honestly we may be lucky to hang on to Nico at this point.
How in the world do you blame Danny White? He has nothing to do with NIL

I’m sure we have a 3 star Tenn kid ready to take his place. 😂
Give me a 3 star who wants to be here and compete versus the ones all about the money. This is what you get with the big time guys. We still have a very good group of OL we can close with. We got out paid. This kid was about his family. He got what he wanted. Like the other guy said about setting certain NIL offers for positions. I wanted this kid like all of you. We are ok right now. Lets see what the next few days hold

Eh. Probably more about there not being a bottomless pit of money. And it would be spyre's issue in terms of dealing with a player rep.

It’s not a joke though we will get good players we just got outbid by a millionaire
Try multibillionaire. I’m not going to slurp on Miami like some but I will say I like that Ruiz has kind of just pissed right in the face of the ncaa and laughed at their BS NIL rules.

He’s now rated a four star. Rivals busted him down from a five because he chose Miami. Wow! Must really suck to be in Miami. Imagine being in Miami fan and sucking that bad. Gully.

IDK that it's a money thing, but since so many brought it up, if we are going to give out big time money it should never be for RTs and guards. So good for Miami.

Then it’s on them or the major donors to get the word out! How do I know the $$ is going towards the recruits and players? I’m not being condescending but it’s similar to giving someone money a go fund me account. I’d love to see someone or a donor get involved and tell the fans how to get involved and help land the “big fish.”
Saban trashed A&M and others regarding NIL; however, I bet the donors pick up their game and do what it takes to increase source of NIL money.
We’re not going to have debate “on where your 5 dollars a month goes” just know it’s goes to the players who cares if it’s like a go fund me? We are trying to win and part of that is investing in the players

Maybe in the beginning, but he met with them to see what the guardrails were. And he’s got the money to take advantage of the current landscape

The baseball team was full of big time players. You win with talent. I get your point, but ultimately, this won’t get turned around without recruiting high level talent. I hope Nico sticks around. We need a QB this class.
