‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

This has been explained if you are paying attention. Spyre just had a virtual Q&A last week where all members were invited. They send emails and invite certain members to events where players show up to engage with members. At a certain level, they send a box with a shirt and other items.

It’s all very open if you want to know.

FYI- I’ve never received an email from them. I’m Ky a big donor but a season ticket holder. So I assume one must sign up to receive emails.

For a little perspective, we are a 7-6 team getting and finishing in the top two for multiple 5 star prospects this year. We got spoiled with Nico. We’re not going to get them all. If we keep the trajectory upward this coming season I think a few more of these bounce our way. Sounds like we’ve got one hopping in the boat within the hour. It’s gonna be okay.

I don't disagree, but Miami went 7-5 last year with losses to teams like FSU, NC, and VA. They also barely scraped out wins against some bad teams. This one is more bothersome, in my opinion, because it isn't like he chose the reigning national or conference champions. They are no better than us right now.

I will google the info unless you have a link. Again, I’m not trying to be a jerk, just asking. The avg fan does not follow recruiting. And most big donors are very involved with NIL.
I will spare the details but one of my son’s best friends is very close to the Oregon program. His father is top four donor for the Ducks. So maybe our donors Need to pick up their game w NIL???

I don’t know about our biggest donors. But @WillAtSpyre is on this forum and will gladly answer your questions.

You aren’t seriously that naive so I’m not going to answer your question.

So, a guy on the job for 6 months who's only issue is that they have lost guys because they aren't able to compete with a few schools when it comes to NIL is "in way over his head".

The Florida class will probably be a lot like Tennessee's. Good, not great.

LAVol, who is connected, has said this very thing. All coaches at UT are looking for culture fits and aren’t just looking for a guy who will take the biggest offer. They will offer NIL deals, but they also want motivated kids.

The issue I have heard with Florida is that they are not negotiating. They put a package together, but they are not getting into a back and forth bidding war with no end in sight until they are the last man standing.

this reflects my point of view!

everyone trashing Miami’s performance in the last decade or so must have a short memory

All of this talk about it only being about the money and not about the relationships and yet Cristobal had been recruiting the kid for years. Francis probably never spoke a word to Heupel and company until about three months ago.

Not to mention Texas who’s had one of the worst season in the history of their program is top five five and rising right now

Lol, just stop. You’re delusional. Funny you just showed up after this…

in the grand scheme, not landing an offensive lineman isn’t the end of the world. We are in on some other really good players. If this had been a big time, game changing QB, it would be a diff story

Agreed. The goal is to have an offensive line that's good enough and then elite skill players.

Give me a 3 star who wants to be here and compete versus the ones all about the money. This is what you get with the big time guys. We still have a very good group of OL we can close with. We got out paid. This kid was about his family. He got what he wanted. Like the other guy said about setting certain NIL offers for positions. I wanted this kid like all of you. We are ok right now. Lets see what the next few days hold

It is POSSIBLE that the money required to get this guy can be spread around and better spent in smaller amounts to get several other players onboard. Really need to wait on some leaked details to know what the cost would have been. Maybe we should make some up and leak the numbers for them for other guys on their list to have in their quivers. Won't be able to analyze the NIL decisions till the end of the line.
