‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

No, we shouldn’t give them credit for ALMOST landing two five stars. At the end of the day they couldn’t get the job done and that’s what matters. Spyre turns out to be a joke and we got lucky getting Nico, without him, what does our class look like?
This, I'm tired of hearing how close we are. We've been a hat on the table for decades and can't close. Then when we get a class full of 3* and the ones of us not booming and celebrating because we know we can't compete with GA and Bama with that kind of talent gap. People here get mad and tell us how stupid we are and that if the coaches want them, then they are good enough. Almost like every 3* is a diamond in the rough or on the cusp of a bump.

We've seen this for 2 decades, I don't care who's coaching, we're not jumping the teams we want/need to be with half the talent. We might get lucky every once in awhile, but that's sad.
Remember 2015 and 2016 under Butch. The team wasn't deep, but the starters were mostly star studded guys.

We still have time, but not much. Ga and Bama will continue to dominate, then Oklahoma and Texa$ will move in and drop us lower.

If we come out and win 7-8 games this season, its gonna be hard to hold onto Nico imo. And the thinking will be UT is still a bottom feeder. I do think we can reach 9-10 overall wins this season though

So much stupidity in this post

Barnes and Vitello recruits top talent consistently. If anything Heupel needs to get some advice from both of them.

Barnes recruits a certain kind of top talent..,if you don’t follow basketball recruiting. It’s guys who fit their culture and will accept his coaching. He doesn’t just take a 5 star for the hell of it.

Vitello was loyal to 3 players this year (Lipscomb, Ortega, and Lawson), all who hadn’t done much before their junior years. You see how many transfers we lost this year? 3 who hadn’t contributed much. Players love the culture. I believe Vitello has been outside the top 10-15 in recruiting more than he has been in it.

It’s a mix of talent and culture. It’s been said many times over.

We will rarely win a head to head battle against UM staff. They have proven closers, we don’t. I’ll take our staff on Xs and Os all day though

So since you seem to have the answers what would you suggest the coaches do?? I’ll wait for a logical answer

As much as you don't want to think about this it does really make you wonder if he is having 2nd thoughts. Because when he committed there was a feel of momentum there and it is gone. I hope he is not and I hope he is a sure thing but you have to wonder.

If you want a kick in the nuts, just wait until Nico decommits this Fall. We all know it’s coming, because he ain’t playing with a bunch of 3*s.

He’s not entirely wrong. Heupel’s a great Xs and Os guy but that will only take us so far. We gotta be able to beat the best on and off the field (I get it in this case Miami’s not the best is this particular situation but I’m talking big picture recruiting)

No reason to freak out we lost a five star wr to the buckeyes who are the hottest team for WRs drafted outside of Bama. Then a five star tackle to Cristobal one of the best OL developers in country that has a laundry list to pitch including a recent poly kid. He has been on the kid since Oregon and so has his Samoan assistant. More you look at it the more it’s not suprising

For a little perspective, we are a 7-6 team getting and finishing in the top two for multiple 5 star prospects this year. We got spoiled with Nico. We’re not going to get them all. If we keep the trajectory upward this coming season I think a few more of these bounce our way. Sounds like we’ve got one hopping in the boat within the hour. It’s gonna be okay.
Miami was 7-5 and they are on a roll...
