‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

What is a critical position? Since keeping QB upright isn't critical...
Outside of QB, I’d be focused on tackles, offensive playmakers, and pass rushers. Corners too to an extent. Tackles are your primary pass protectors since they’re the most likely to be blocking on an island against the opposing team’s best pass rushers. Interior lineman on both sides of the ball are more often dependent on scheme to protect the qb (properly handling stunts and combo blocks) or pressure the qb (stunting, block occupying). There’s the occasional truly special player at those positions, but for the most part their impact is muted compared to passers, true pass protectors, pass catchers, and pass defenders.

I wouldn’t pay a future Guard 4 million dollars, but if Miami wants to. Go for it. Personally glad that’s not where my money to Spyre went. I think we can land 7-8 impact players for that much.
Exactly, thanks for this post. Most of the people complaining don’t even contribute to sprye. Just miserable people being miserable on a great day. Independence Day and we got a 5star to start ‘24 class.

Money Man? Calm? Spyre is supposed to be the name of our money man. And Miami has been down as long as we have. There are noises of Plowman interfering in the process, and hints that internal rules are hindering recruiting. Something, I don't know what, is wrong at Tennessee.

What’s wrong is every major sport has succeeded at a high level this year, and that hasn’t happened for a long time. So, nothing is wrong.

This is going to be the new dimension to being a successful coach - spending money wisely. Do you go all out for the one guy or spread that money out over 2-3 players that you think are more worthy. It's whole new dynamic. The support staff is becoming more and more valuable. Player evaluations are going to be at a premium.

Our NIL is officially mediocre it seems. Zero reason this kid would choose Miami unless $$$ was just significantly more.

No problem, you and a bunch of Orange fans can overpay for some T-shirts from Sprye so they can overpay for some of these players, But then you must also be prepared to do it multiple times in situations like this because there is not one OL, but 4 or 5 that need to be added and they just might compare notes. Will be interesting to see if we can find out the price tag for the OL they just flipped from UF. Gotta have a budget and/or price list. A four star might just want 80% of what a 5 star gets. When they know the well is out there they may want a drink similar to the guy lining up next to them. Then they may prefer to play without NIL elsewhere instead of the signing school. Lots of unknowns right now.
Thankfully we only have one QB to worry about each year.

So, how many $5000 T-shirts can we put you down for?

Our NIL is good just not Miami good, if you haven’t noticed they have been getting their share too

They don’t have NIL. They have 1 Billionaire Booster (on paper) who is already under investigation. His company just went public and the stock plummeted. No way this is sustainable for him
