I contribute. And semi significantly. But you are wrong on this one. Every TN fan absolutely has the right to complain about this loss. Why? Because of what we have had to go through for the past 15 or so years. We have been told we have big donors. We have the facilities. We have the recruiting budget. We have the NIL collective. TN fans but tons of merchandise every year. Even when we suck, Neyland is packed. Fans pay crazy money for a ticket, overpriced food and terrible parking.

Fans have been fed BS for years. The ONLY consistent thing about TN football is the fan base. We have been used and abused. So every TN has the right to complain.

You have to look at the big picture. Let's say we paid him the 4 mil. Now you've set a precedence. Will our current oline expect 4 mil? What about other recruits? I doubt coming up with another 1 mil/yr was going to break the Spyre bank. I think two things came into play here....

1. I don't think the staff felt like he was worth $4 mil
2. I don't think the staff believes that when the sole focus of the recruit is going to the highest bidder, they feel the player fits the in with what they're trying to do.

All.just my opinion.

Prove me wrong that this administration doesn’t expect any better than that. Since Doug Dickey left as AD in 2002 we have had exactly three ten win seasons since 2003. They are thrilled with Outback and Music city bowl appearances and could care less about getting steamrolled by our three big rivals every year.

Us fans have been fed a steaming pile of doo doo every season since 2008 yet we still show up and pack Neyland in the belief that this administration will finally get this once proud ship program turned around. Yet it’s fools gold every year and we still lap it up. I do think Danny White is the best AD we have had since Dickey and Heup is the best coach since Lane was here

why do people not understand we’ve been in on 5 star recruits literally every year. Nothing has changed. It’s time to land them and land them in spades. Whatever it takes. The people that have the power to make it be, need to make it be.

When we start winning on the field and on draft day I think we win more of these battles. We won't ever be the highest bidder but I think we are building something special.

It’s strange. Because the argument you are making has long been said. And many of the people giving you crap about it, have likely echoed the same thing over the years. Most of the TN fans will blame the administration for Kiffin, Dooley, Botch and Pruitt, and rightfully so. But somehow now the administration is somehow completely free from blame?

I agree with you on building something special. I love Heupel and this staff. But we need players like Mauigoa to win at a high level. When you say winning on the field, I assume you are not talking about beating Vandy, SC and UK. I assume you are talking about beating UF, UGA and Bama yes? Well if that’s the case then we have got to get these high end players. We need these guys to beat those teams. But it seems like the bidding war thing is gonna be a real thorn in our side.
